With the advent of the Information Age symbolized by a computer, changes are being worked throughout our lives and expected to be accelerated with the lapse of time. Among them, a linguistic change is rapidly being worked every day. The communication language which began to be used in computer communication environment has had a gradually broad effect on everyday linguistic life, which results in meaning no longer a language used only in computer communications. It means the expanded range of communication language. Indiscriminate use of communication language resulting from rapid propagation produced language-destructive expression unfit for Korean norm, and caused the lack of communication between the young and the old generation. Also, it made juveniles whose values are not established lead mechanical and unconscious linguistic lives.
Seeing youngsters as the subject to lead future Korean life, this thesis understood and analyzed the actual conditions of the communication language they made in computer communication environment to check their linguistic lives. Based on it, Chapter II typified the phenomena presented in communication language as 'phonological', 'lexicological', 'syntactic', 'pragmatic' and 'orthographic' phenomena, and presented their detailed factors. And it analyzed them by dividing them into 'economical efficiency' of pursuing convenience and 'expressiveness' of trying to maximize communicative effect. Also, in order to analyze the contents related to communication language in the curriculum preparing the guide for the learning contents by schools of each grade, Chapter III presented the details of current 7th and revised curricula related to the language. It showed the limitations and improvements of current curriculum, and clarified the elements and others of revised curriculum which is different from it. Also, to reveal the tremendous effect of communication language on everyday language, it showed its effects on the domains of 'speaking', 'listening', 'reading' and 'writing', and prepared what to guide about based on it.
This thesis aims at making known the serious phenomenon of language destruction from indiscriminate use of communication language, and establishing what to guide about. And it sought how a Korean textbook would have to approach and guide the language. The textbook should approach it on a long-term basis to guide the communication language striking root deep into everyday linguistic life, and present students with activities through the concrete cases in actual communication environment. A teacher should induce them to reflect on their linguistic lives based on it. I see that a plan for recognizing the language as one of the communicating methods in a new age and using it correctly will produce learner-directed subjective and active learning.

컴퓨터로 상징되는 정보화 시대의 도래로 우리 생활 전반에 걸쳐 변화가 진행되고 있으며, 이러한 변화는 시간이 지나면서 가속화될 전망이다. 그 중에서도 언어의 변화는 하루가 다르게 급변하고 있는 실정이다. 컴퓨터 통신 환경에서 사용되기 시작한 통신 언어는 점차 일상적인 언어 생활에 광범위한 영향을 끼쳐, 지금은 더 이상 통신 언어가 컴퓨터 통신 내에서만 쓰는 언어를 의미하지 않게 되었다. 이는 곧 통신 언어의 범위 확장을 의미한다. 급속한 전파로 인해 나타난 통신 언어의 무분별한 사용은 국어 규범과 맞지 않는 언어 파괴적인 표현을 만들어 냈으며, 세대 간 의사소통의 단절을 불러일으켰다. 또한 가치가 정립되지 않은 어린 청소년에게 기계적이고 무의식적인 언어 생활을 하게 만들었다.
본 논문은 미래의 국어 생활을 이끌고 나가야 할 주체가 청소년이라고 보아 이들의 언어 생활을 점검하기 위해, 청소년의 컴퓨터 통신 환경에서 작성한 통신 언어를 대상으로 하여 실태를 파악하고 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 Ⅱ장에서는 통신 언어에서 나타나는 현상을 ‘음운론적’, ‘어휘론적’, ‘통사론적’, ‘화용론적’, ‘표기법적’ 현상으로 유형화하고, 세부적인 요인을 제시하였다. 그리고 이를 다시 편리성을 추구하는 ‘경제성’과 의사전달 효과의 극대화를 꾀하는 ‘표현성’의 측면으로 나누어 분석하였다. 또한 각급 학교별 학습 내용의 지침을 마련하는 교육과정에서의 통신 언어 관련 내용을 분석하기 위해 Ⅲ장에서는 통신 언어와 관련된 현행 7차 교육과정과 개정 교육과정의 내용을 제시하였다. 현행 교육과정의 한계점과 개선 방향을 나타내고, 현행 교육과정과는 다른 개정 교육과정의 요소 등을 밝혔다. 또한 일상 언어에 미치는 통신 언어의 영향력이 막대함을 드러내기 위해, 통신 언어가 ‘말하기’, ‘듣기’, ‘읽기’, ‘쓰기’ 영역에 미치는 영향을 나타내고, 이를 근거로 지도 내용을 마련하였다.
본 논문은 무분별한 통신 언어의 사용으로 인해 언어 파괴 현상이 심각함을 주지시키고, 지도 내용을 설정하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 그리고 국어 교과에서 통신 언어에 대해 어떻게 접근하고, 지도해야 할 것인가에 대해 모색하였다. 일상 언어 생활에까지 깊숙이 뿌리 내린 통신 언어를 지도하기 위해서는 장기적으로 접근되어야 하며, 학생들에게 실제 통신 환경에서의 구체적인 사례를 통해 활동을 제시해 주어야 할 필요가 있다. 이를 토대로 언어 생활을 반성해 보게끔 이끌어야 한다. 통신 언어를 새 시대의 의사소통 방법 중의 하나로 인정하여 올바르게 사용할 수 있는 방안이 모색된다면 학습자가 주도가 되는 주체적이고 능동적인 학습이 이루어질 것이라고 본다.
