경제어는 전문어의 일종으로 경제와 직접적으로 관련이 있는 환경이나 사람들뿐만 아니라 일상생활을 비롯한 사회 전반에서 널리 사용되고 있는 사회적 언어이다. 그러나 '경제'라는 학문이나 활동 자체가 전문적이고, 경제어에는 한자어 및 외래어가 많다는 인식 때문에 어렵게 느껴지고 있다.
이 논문은 경제어를 언어학적인 측면에서 경제어에는 어떠한 것들이 있으며 이러한 경제어들이 어떻게 형성되는가를 살펴보고 국어 단어 형성 방법과 유사한 형성 원리와 구조를 가짐을 밝혀 일반인들에게 친숙하게 다가갈 수 있는 계기를 만드는데 그 목적이 있다.
이 논문에 쓰인 경제어는 '경제와 관련이 있는 모든 어휘'를 총칭하는 개념으로, 경제학이나 경제 전문 분야에서 사용하는 전문어는 물론 일반인들이 실질적으로 일상생활 속에서 사용하는 경제어까지 연구 범위에 포함시킨다.
경제어의 특성으로는 어휘적으로 한자어 및 외래어가 대부분이며 형태적으로 명사와 합성어, 두자어가 많고 의미적으로 의미를 변용하거나 은어 및 관용어를 많이 사용한다.
경제어는 기본적으로 파생법, 합성법, 합성법의 파생, 구을 비롯하여 그밖에 형용어, 색깔이나 기본 수의 적용, 두자어나 동의 중복, 단축 등을 통해서 형성된다.
이 논문을 통해 경제어의 형성 원리나 구조가 국어의 단어 형성 방법과 크게 다르지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다.
따라서 이 논문을 통해 경제어가 일상어의 단어 형성과 유사한 방법, 구조를 가지는 하나의 사회적 언어로써, 언어의 장벽을 허물고 쉽게 다가설 수 있는 언어로 자리 매김 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

As a kind of terminology, economic terms are words of social language that are widely used in all aspects of society including daily life as well as by environments or people directly related to economy. But the terms are generally considered difficult, for economy itself is a professional discipline or activity and the terms words written in Chinese characters and of foreign origin from a view of vocabulary.
The purpose of this study is to examine what are economic terms from a view of linguistics and how such terms are formed and show similarities in the principle of formation and structure between the terms and Korean vocabularies, ultimately making economy-related words more familiar to the public.
In this study, all vocabularies related to economy are referred collectively as 'economic terms which here include economy -related words commonly used by the public as well as terminologies used in economics and related fields.
From a view of vocabulary, economic terms are words written in Chinese characters and of foreign origin in most cases. They often have forms of noun. compound and two-letter word and their meanings are often adapted and represented by other jargons or idioms.
Economic terms are formed by using adjectives, color terms, basic numbers and two-letter words and through synonym repetition and abbreviation, in addition to derivation and composition.
This study found that the formative principle or structure of economic terms is similar to that of Korean vocabulary.
In conclusion, economic terms are words of social language whose formation and structure are consistent with those of common words we use in daily life. Thus economic terms would be established as words that could be easily accessed by us.
