This is aimed at making vocabulary list required for Korean language education intended for female international marriage migrants, and then rating the grade of vocabulary. It is for providing basic data required for development of Korean proficiency test s or textbooks for female international marriage migrants.
As the female international marriage migrants are living in different environment from the general Korean learners' one, their vocabulary abilities are different each other. The current studies on Korean vocabulary education or on vocabulary selection and listing for foreigners, are mainly intended for general learners, and studies on foreigners' Korean vocabulary are insufficient. Accordingly, this study recognized that the female international marriage migrants have a different vocabulary ability from general learners' one, and suggested a plan to make a practical vocabulary list and grade rating. This study will be focused on the female international marriage migrants' smooth communication in Korea, by providing them with a grade-rated vocabulary list and educating them practical language in advance.
This implemented grade rating as follows. First, by listing vocabulary contained in 『Korean language for female international marriage migrants』 textbook, it was compared with 『Vocabulary List for Korean Learning』 written by CHO Nam-ho and others (2003) to find which vocabulary was in the same rating. Then, this study surveyed, through two kinds of experiments, which difference was existed between two groups' Korean vocabulary ability. The experiment was completed by an evaluation. Firstly, vocabulary-related questions contained in the Test of Proficiency in Korea (TOPIK) were utilized for evaluation data. Secondly, to survey the female international marriage migrants' vocabulary ability more precisely, questionnaires were conducted by means of vocabulary list of two data. Finally, based on the foregoing text analysis and evaluation, vocabulary list was made for the female international marriage migrants' Korean language education. The said vocabulary list was rated by nine judgment committee members.
This study suggested a method to make a list focusing on vocabulary contained in the pre-edited textbook and grade rating. It proposed one example of Korean vocabulary list for the female international marriage migrants. More systematic studies need to be continued for preparation of vocabulary list and grade rating, according to the frequency of use, by means of survey on the actual state of vocabulary. Accordingly, the writer wishes this study would be applied as one of the basic studies to prepare an objective standard for Korean vocabulary list's grade rating for the female international marriage migrants.

본 논문은 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육에 필요한 어휘 목록을 설정하고 이를 등급화 하는 데 목적이 있다. 이는 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 하는 한국어능력시험의 평가지 개발이나 여성결혼이민자를 위한 교재 개발에 필요한 기초 자료로 제공하기 위함이다.
여성결혼이민자들은 일반 목적 한국어 학습자와 다른 생활환경과 교육환경 속에서 살아가고 있기 때문에 이들의 어휘력은 일반 목적 학습자의 어휘력과 차이를 보인다. 그러나 현재 외국인을 위한 한국어 어휘 교육 분야에 대한 연구나 어휘를 선정하고 목록화 하는 연구는 주로 일반 목적 학습자를 대상으로 하고 있으며, 이들을 대상으로 한 한국어 어휘 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 여성결혼이민자들은 일반 목적 학습자들과 어휘력이 다름을 인식하고 이들을 위한 실생활 중심의 어휘 목록을 작성하여 등급화 하는 방안을 제시하였다. 등급화 된 어휘 목록을 이들을 위한 한국어 교육에 제공하여 어휘 교육을 실시함으로써, 실생활에 필요한 어휘를 먼저 학습시켜 여성결혼이민자들이 한국 사회에서 보다 원활하게 의사소통을 할 수 있도록 하는데 초점을 둘 것이다.
본고에서는 다음과 같이 등급화 작업을 하였다. 먼저『여성결혼이민자를 위한 한국어』 교재에 나오는 어휘를 목록화 하여 조남호 외(2003)『한국어 학습용 어휘 목록』과 어떤 어휘의 등급이 일치하는 지 비교해 보았다. 다음으로 두 가지 실험을 통해 이들의 어휘력과 일반 목적 한국어 학습자들의 어휘력에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 조사하였다. 실험은 평가로 이루어졌다.
첫 번째 평가 자료는 일반 목적 한국어능력시험(TOPIK)의 어휘 관련 문항을 이용하였다. 두 번째는 여성결혼이민자의 어휘력 실태를 좀 더 명확하게 조사하기 위해서 두 자료의 어휘 목록을 이용하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 마지막으로 앞에서 실시한 교재 분석과 평가를 바탕으로 여성결혼이민자 대상 한국어 교육을 위한 어휘 목록을 작성하였다. 이 어휘 목록은 9명의 판정 위원에 의하여 등급화 되었다.
본 연구자가 제안한 방법은 이미 제작된 교재에 나오는 어휘를 중심으로 목록을 작성하고 등급화를 한 것이다. 이는 여성결혼이민자를 위한 한국어 어휘 목록화의 한 가지 예를 제시한 것이다. 앞으로는 이들의 어휘 실태를 조사하여 사용 빈도수에 따라 어휘 목록을 작성하고 등급화 하는 좀 더 체계적인 연구들이 계속 되어야 할 것이다. 따라서 본 연구가 여성결혼이민자를 위한 한국어 어휘 목록의 등급화에 객관적인 기준을 마련하는 기초 연구 중 하나로 활용되었으면 하는 바람이다.
