Korean society is rapidly moving toward multi-racial and multi-cultural society as there has been a growing trend of international-cultural exchanges, international marriages and influx of labor forces from outside of the country. The multi-cultural families would have shown the dramatic changes in Korea society themselves; however, since the majority of members of multi-cultural families, including immigrant workers and immigrant women, come to Korea with very little knowledge on Korean language and also have very limited opportunities of learning Korean language after being settled in Korea, they have serious problems in communicating in Korean language both in the work place and home. Thus, to help multi-cultural families settle themselves in Korea society well and improve their understanding in Korean language, governments and each relevant department should provide systematic supporting polities with multi-cultural families. First and foremost, there should be warm-hearted interests and considerations for multi-cultural families. Furthermore, we should have basic understanding of a new era of multi-racial and multi-cultural society and the concept of global communities. Thus, we should embrace multi-cultural families not by assimilating them to Korean culture, but based on mutual understanding and concerns.
