윈튼 켈리는 비밥 시대의 중심에 있던 피아니스트로 그의 즉흥 연주시 나타나는 특징은 타겟 노트에 접근하는 방법이다. 그 접근 방법은 반음을 사용한 크로메틱 접근 방법, 블루스 스케일... 윈튼 켈리는 비밥 시대의 중심에 있던 피아니스트로 그의 즉흥 연주시 나타나는 특징은 타겟 노트에 접근하는 방법이다. 그 접근 방법은 반음을 사용한 크로메틱 접근 방법, 블루스 스케일을 사용한 접근 방법, 디미니쉬드 스케일과 어퍼 스트럭처 코드를 사용한 접근 방법, 옥타브를 사용한 접근 방법이다. 분석을 통해 나타난 타겟 노트 접근 방법을 칙 코리아의 자작곡 중 리얼북에 수록된 4곡과 자작곡에 적용한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 첫째, 혼합형 크로메틱은 음과 음사이의 음정 간격이 커져 순간적인 음의 폭이 넓어짐으로 입체적인 사운드 효과를 주고, 둘째, 블루스 스케일의 특징적인 음으로 타겟 노트로 접근 하였을 때의 해결감을 주고, 셋째, 디미니쉬드 스케일과 어퍼 스트럭처 코드를 사용한 접근 방법은 순간적으로 아웃사이드 사운드를 내어 타겟 노트에 접근시 강한 해결감을 주고, 넷째, 옥타브 접근 방법은 멜로디의 유니즌으로 멜로디를 강조하거나 동시에 더 많은 보이싱으로 연주하여 타악기적인 리듬의 효과를 준다. 본 논문은 이러한 접근 방법을 통하여 스케일이 중심이 되는 기존 연주의 틀을 벗어나 타겟 노트의 설정으로 인한 즉흥연주의 세분화에 다양한 아이디어를 제시한다. 키워드: 윈튼켈리, 타겟노트

Wynton Kelly is a pianist representing the Bebop Era, and the characteristics observed in his improvisation playing is the Target Note Approach method. This method has effects of Chromatic, Bluesy, Diminished Scale, Upper Structure Chord approaches and establishing dynamic sounds and rich harmonies by using Octaves. The Target Note Approach identified by analyses was applied to four self-made musics contained in Real Book by Chick Corea and to this author's music and the results are as follows: First, the mixed chromatic has surround sound effect by widening the interval due to long distance between notes. Second, the characteristic sounds of Blues scale provide sense of resolution. Third, the Outside Playing provide strong sense of resolution in case of approaching target notes, while making instant outside sounds in solo playing by grouping as non-chord tone. Fourth, the Octave approach emphasizes melody by using unison of melody or provide percussion-like rhythmic effect by using more voicing in playing.
