Abstract A study on Korean language education scheme according to variable Yooram Seo Department of Korean Language and Literature (Major in Korean Education as Foreign Language) Graduate School, Daejin University The purpose of this thesis is to suggest a Korean language education scheme according to variable. Learner variables intended to be examined in this include learner for academic purpose, foreign worker and migrant woman. Focusing on these learner variables, curriculum and classroom setting according to learner and textbook used according to learner is analyzed. And on the basis of these results, a Korean language education scheme is suggested. In chapter 1, the purpose of study, the method and substance of study and precedent studies were reviewed. When precedent studies were examined, most of them focused on only one learner variable, not considering many learner variables. In this , it was decided that participants were learners for academic purpose, foreign workers and migrant women in order to suggest characteristics of each learner variable and a differentiated Korean language education scheme suitable for the characteristics. In chapter 2, the present conditions of Korean language education were examined after being divided into the present condition of education according to learner variable and the present condition of education depending on curriculum and classroom setting according to learner variable. Learners for academic purpose, foreign workers and migrant women were surveyed in order to examine the present condition of education according to learner variable. The questionnaire was composed of a total of 10 items. And the questionnaire is about age, nationality, level of Korean, level of education in their native country, length of stay in Korea, period of learning Korean language, hours of Korean language study per week, purpose of learning Korean, whether to take Test of Proficiency in Korean, and Korean language skills that they want to learn. In order to examine the present condition of education depending on curriculum and classroom setting according to learner variable, this study made a survey of curriculum and classroom setting of organization for migrant women, foreign workers and learners for academic purpose. With regard to curriculum, this study made a survey of the structure of 1 school year, the number of classes per week, class duration, the structure of levels according to class and textbook used. And with regard to classroom setting, this study made a survey of the level, number, nationality and age of students in classroom. In chapter 3, a textbook used by organization for migrant women, foreign workers and learners for academic purpose was analyzed after being divided into the structure of units, situation in text according to unit and vocabulary. It was decided that a textbook to be analyzed was intermediate-level one. The reason is that a beginner-level textbook doesn't properly reflect the characteristics of each learner variable in comparison with intermediate-level textbook because the beginner-level textbook is composed, centering on basic things necessary in everyday life. Chapter 4 suggests a Korean language education scheme for migrant women, foreign workers and learners for academic purpose. And on the basis of this, a lesson plan for 1 class was presented. This study presented one lesson plan on the units of the same textbook and the other lesson plan on the units of different textbooks. <Sogang Korean> was used with regard to common textbook. And this study used <Hanyang Korean> in case of learners for academic purpose, <EPS-TOPIK Standard Textbook> in case of foreign workers and <Korean language for married immigrant women> in case of immigrant women with regard to different textbooks. In the lesson plan based on the same textbook, it was possible to examine how to differentiate and teach the unit of the same textbook to each learner. In the lesson plan based on different textbooks, the characteristics of educational contents and teaching method were distinct according to learner. This is different from pervious ones in that it examines characteristics according to learner variable in consideration of many learner variables. Besides, this is significant in that it suggests an education scheme suitable for each learner and in that it presents a specific lesson plan. It is to be hoped that this will be helpful as baseline data for people who make a study on education scheme according to variable in the future.
