국 문 초 록
본 논문의 목적은 한국에서 생활하고 있는 결혼이주여성의 적응요인과 이에 근거한 사회통합 방안을 제시하는 데 있다. 적응은 결혼이주여성 본인은 물론, 아내와 어머니로서의 역할을 적절히 수행하는 데도 필수적인 요건이다. 이 논문에서는 결혼이주여성의 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인 중 용기 덕목과 사회경제적 배경을 중심으로 살펴보았다.
용기 덕목의 총합 및 용기 덕목 중 진실성, 인내, 용감성, 열정 등과 같은 성격강점이 삶의 만족도와 통계적으로 매우 유의한 상관관계를 보이고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 삶의 만족도에는 용기 덕목 이외에도 건강상태, 본국 및 한국 친구의 수, 다문화 기관 이용 여부, 전반적인 한국어 실력 등이 삶의 만족도와 정의 상관관계, 차별 경험은 부의 상관관계를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다.
본 연구는 결혼이주여성을 대상으로 진행되었던 선행연구에서 연구가 미진한 긍정심리학의 개념을 바탕으로 그들이 위치한 가정 및 사회생활에서 덕목 및 성격강점을 활용하여 만족하는 데 보다 심층적인 이해의 폭을 넓혔다. 결혼이주여성은 사회 환경과 관계를 맺으며, 서로 간에 영향을 미치며 살아가기 때문에 이에 대한 정책의 개발 및 프로그램이 마련되어야 하는 시사점이 도출되었다. 또한 한국인은 결혼이주여성에 대한 부정적인 인식을 개선하고 편견과 차별을 지양하여야 할 것이다.

The objective of this thesis is to investigate factors affecting the adaptation of women marriage migrants in Korea, and to suggest some policies to integrate them into Korean society. They have to first adapt themselves in order to be a wife and a mother in her family. This thesis looks at SES (Socio-Economic Status) and Courage Virtues Character Strengths (Values In Action) of women marriage migrants to find out factors affecting their adaptation in, or satisfaction with, Korean society.
The survey results show that all Courage Virtues Character Strengths, such as authenticity, vitality, persistence and bravery, have a positive impact on the adaptation of women marriage migrants.
Socioeconomic statuses such as health condition, the numbers of friends from home country and Korea, the usage of Multicultural agency, overall Korean language skills also have a positive effect, except experiences of discrimination, which has a negative impact.
This thesis has attempted to see the problem of adaption or life satisfaction and to make current multicultural policies more effective, by looking into the impact of Virtues Character Strengths on adaptation.
