아동 대상의 교육에서 ‘활동’은 학습자의 흥미를 유발하고 학습 동기를 고취시키는 중요한 요소이다. 한국어 교육에서도 ‘활동’은 재미있게 한국어를 학습 하도록 하는 중요한 요소로 아동을 대상으로 하는 경우 ‘활동’의 중요성이 더욱 대두된다.
본 연구는 재외동포 아동 학습자용 한국어 교재에 제시된 학습 활동의 유형을 분석하고 개선점을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 재외동포 대상의 한국어 교육에 대한 연구는 다양한 방면에서 진행되고 있으며 재외동포 학습자의 대다수가 아동인 점을 고려할 때 아동 학습자용 교재를 분석하고 개선점을 제안하는 것은 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.
연구를 위해 미국의 한글학교 교사를 대상으로 현재 사용하고 있는 교재에 대한 의견을 조사하였고 현지에서 사용 빈도가 높은 것으로 조사된 3종의 교재를 분석하여 교재에 제시된 학습 활동의 유형을 분류하였다.
분석 대상의 교재는 『맞춤 한국어(영어권)』, 『한글학교 한국어』, 『한국어』로 3종이며 분석 결과 세 교재 모두 학습 활동의 유형이 2~3가지의 소수 유형에 지나치게 치중되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 교재의 학습 단계가 높아질수록 학습 활동의 유형 또한 다양화 되는 경향을 보이고는 있었지만 대체적으로 2~3가지의 유형이 반복적으로 나타나고 있어서 유형을 다양화 화기 위한 노력이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
교사 대상의 요구 조사에서는 대다수의 교사가 아동 대상의 한국어 수업에서 다양한 학습 활동이 필요하다는 의견을 보였으며 재미있는 활동이어도 반복적으로 제시되면 아동들의 집중력이 떨어지므로 적절한 시간 분배와 활동 방법에 다양한 변화가 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
이러한 조사 결과를 바탕으로 활동을 중심으로 하는 수업 구성안을 제안하였다. 아동 학습자의 짧은 주의 집중력을 고려하여 활동에 지속적인 변화를 주는 것에 초점을 두었고 정적인 활동과 동적인 활동을 적절히 배분하여 수업을 진행 할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 실제 수업에 적용한 결과를 도출하지 못했다는 제한점이 있으나 교사의 요구와 교재 분석을 바탕으로 보다 다양한 유형의 학습 활동이 필요하다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다.
현지 맞춤형 한국어 교재가 지속적으로 개발되고 있는 단계인 만큼 현지 교육 환경과 학습자 특성에 대한 조사와 연구가 뒷받침 되어야 할 것이며 재외동포 아동들의 특성과 흥미를 고려하여 활동 부분의 특성이 강화된 재미있고 활용도 높은 교재가 지속적으로 개발되어야 할 것이다.

In this study, it is an object of the invention to analyze the type of learning activities that are presented in Korean teaching materials for learners of overseas compatriots children, to seek improvements.
Studies of Korean language education for overseas Koreans have carried out in various fields.In view of learners majority are children, it may be that there is significant that analyze the materials for learning children, we propose improvements. To target the Korean school teacher in the United States for the study was to investigate an opinion on the materials you are currently using.
Analyze the materials of three surveyed that is frequently used in the field, and classify the type of learning activities that are presented in the materials. Teaching material to be analyzed, is three 『Matchum Korean(English-speaking)』, 『HangeulHakgyo Korean』 and 『Korean』. Results of the analysis, it was possible to know that the type of learning activities for all three materials are concentrated too much on the type of 2~3. It shows a tendency that as learning phase of the materials is high, the type of learning activities to diversify. Types of 2-3 has appeared repeatedly in general. Therefore, it seems to be needed is an effort to diversify the type.
In the needs assessment of teachers, in the classroom in Korean school children, teachers majority opinion showed learning various activities that they need. Even fun activities, and is repeatedly presented, concentration of children is reduced, it was possible to know that various changes are required for proper activity and how time allocation.
In chapter 5, it suggested the lesson structure plan with a focus on activities on the basis of these findings. It was focused on having regard to the attention concentration short children learn to provide continuous change of the activity. Further, it was configured so as to be able to advance the teaching by appropriately distributing the dynamic activity and static activity.
However, limitation that did not effect the results of applying the actual classes are provided. It could be based on analysis of the materials needs and teachers, to draw conclusions learning activities more various types that are required.
In just a stage customization Korean local materials have been developed on an ongoing basis, and research study on student characteristics and educational environment of the local should be done.
It should be continuously developed teaching materials with high degree of leverage interesting that in consideration of the characteristics and interests of overseas Korean children, characteristic of the part of the activity is enhanced.
