번역은 언어기호의 단순한 전환이 아니라 그 민족의 정신과 문화, 즉 복잡한 언어과정을 거쳐 형성되고 다양한 이질적 요소가 내포되어 있는 문화를 다른 형식으로 바꾸어 표현하는 작업이다. 특히 문학작품의 번역은 원문의 뜻을 정확히 전달해야 할 뿐만 아니라 글 속에 담긴 감정과 정서까지 전달해야 하므로 매우 어려운 일이다. 그 중에서도 산문이나 소설보다는 시를 번역할 때 훨씬 더 어려움을 겪게 마련이다. 왜냐하면 시의 번역은 원시의 의미 재현 외에도 원시의 형태미와 의경미(意境美)와 운율미를 동시에 전달하는 것이기 때문이다.
시 번역에서 시어가 잘 다듬어진 형태 속에서 운율과 같은 음악적 자질이 최대한 발현될 때, 시의 아름다움이 실현되며 시적 효과가 전달된다. 시적 효과란 명시되지 않은 함축의미를 추론을 통해 얻게 되는 인지적인 효과를 말한다. 시적 효과는 시의 구조와 소리 및 어휘로부터 생성된다. 언어마다 이러한 부분들은 본질적인 차이와 특성이 있어 다른 언어로 번역되면 시적 효과가 반감되거나 상실될 수가 있다. 다만 이러한 번역으로 인한 상실에도 불구하고 많은 외국시가 한국어로 번역되고 있고, 또한 한국시 역시 다른 나라 언어로 번역되어 온 지 오래며 번역시에 대한 독자들의 관심도 점차 확대되고 있는 현실에서 보면 시 텍스트 번역에 대한 분석의 필요성이 드러난다. 지금까지 번역에 대한 연구는 주로 의미 전달을 중심으로 하는 어휘와 통사 등 언어학적 측면에 치중되고 있다. 그러나 시 번역은 단순한 언어의 전환이 아니라 해석학적 영역에 속하며 언어 외적인 요소가 포함된다. 그러므로 언어학적 관점에 시적 본질이나 속성 등 문학적인 요소를 결합하여 분석해보는 것도 시 번역 연구에서 필요하다고 생각한다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 한국 현대시의 중국어 번역에서 원문과 가장 근접한 등가 찾기와 원문의 시적 효과를 번역문에서도 유지하는 방법을 모색하였다. 본 논문은 오역의 원인이 되는 잘못된 해석을 했는가를 가려내기보다 원문과 번역문의 형식적, 의미론적 등가뿐만 아니라 저자의 생각과 감정이 원문의 표현 방식 그대로 재현되었는가 하는 시적 효과의 전달문제에 초점을 둔다.
이에 앞서 등가와 시적 효과가 번역의 과정에서 어떻게 다르게 나타나는지를 살펴보고자 한국 현대시의 중국어 번역사례들을 중심으로 번역자의 태도 차이에 따른 문제, 운율과 리듬, 언어 전이의 면과 번역자의 표현방법에 따른 등가적 표현과 시적 효과의 전달 문제를 중심으로 분석을 진행하였다. 분석 과정에서는 나이다의 번역이론인 등가 개념을 접목시켜 설명하였다.
본 연구에서는 한국 현대시를 중국어로 번역할 때, 직역을 통해 이해한 원전의 뜻을 역어의 독자에게 제대로 전달하기 위해서는 역어체계에 어울리는 시의 형식을 갖추도록 의역을 하되 이러한 의역은 어디까지나 직역의 기초 상에서 이루어져야 하며 시인의 창조적 시어는 원문의 표현을 그대로 전달하는 방법을 주장한다. 뿐만 아니라 번역자의 창조적 재구성과 중국어의 언어적 특성을 최대한 살려 번역문에서 재창조된 시적 효과를 한층 살릴 수 있도록 하는 것이 필요하다고 주장한다.
이를 위해 번역가는 작품의 배경과 문화, 작가의 의도 등에 대한 충분한 사전지식을 기초로 역어의 언어적인 특징을 잘 이용하여 원문의 이미지를 보다 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 언어적 감각과 예술적, 창조적 감각을 키워나가야 할 것이다.

Translation is not a simple transfermation of language symbols, but a process in which original national spirits and cultures endowed with heterogeneous elements in the complicated language formation are expressed in another language form.Literary translation is particularly demanding because it is supposed not only to express the original meanings, but also to deliver the feelings and inclinations hidden in words.However, poetry translation is much more difficult than the translation of s or novels as poetry translation not only transfers the meanings of original ones but represents the beauties of original formation, rhythm and artistic conception.
In poetry tranlation, only rhythm is developed most in precise verses, can poetic beauty be represented and poetic effect be transferred.Poetic effect means a kind of cognitive effect which inner meanings hidden in words are obtained by deduction and reasoning.The poerty effect of every kind of language has differences and characteristics in essence. Translation decreases or even kills the poetry effect.Although translation leads to the losing of poetry effect, abundant foreign poems have been being translated into Korean with Korean poems being translated into various foreign languages. Additionally the present readers pay more and more attention to the translated poems.Thus it is very necessary to analyzed the process of the translation of poetic text. The present tanslation research mainly focuses on the linguistics which is centered by the conversion of meanings. But poetry translation is not a simply language transfermation. It belongs to the category of hermeneutics and contains many elements out of linguistics. So it is essential to combine linguistic ideas with literary elements, such as poetry essence and property to analyze poetry tranlation. The thesis aims to hunt the Chinese translation of modern Korean poems for the translation method by which translation closes to the original meaning most and maitains the original poetry effect to the largest extent.The purpose of the thesis is not to find out mistranslation due to the misunderstanding of original text. However, it emphasizes not only the equivalence in form and meaning between the original poems and their translation, but also the poetry effect which is expressed by the translation by applying the same way with the original poems to speak out the same ideas and feelings with the ones of the original poets.
In order to study the different representation of equivalence and poetry effect in the translation process, the thesis centers the Chinese translation of modern Korean poems to analyze the following questions, such as the problems caused by different attitudes of translators, the problems of rhythm, meter and language transfermation, and the transfer problems to realize equivalence and poetry effect by different expressions of translators. In the analysis process,the thesis applies the translation theory of functional equivalence from Eugene A. Nida.
The research puts forward a point: in the process of translating the modern Korean poems into Chinese, translators can form the poetry style in accordance with the target language system by using free translation in order to deliver the original meanings to the target language readers with more accuracy and integrity.But the creative verses of poets must be changed into the same expression with the original ones. Moreover translators should develop the language charateristics of Chinese most by the creative reorganization to improve the poetry effect which is created by translation.
For this reason, translators should base on the thorough understanding of the knowledge, such as the background and culture of poems and the intentions of original poets to cultivate the language sense, artistic conception and creative mind to use the characteristics of target language to express the original images effectively.
