다문화 사회가 도래하면서 한국 남성과 결혼하여 국내에 거주하는 여성 결혼 이민자의 수가 증가하고 있다. 20만 명에 육박하는 여성 결혼 이민자는 대부분 한국 사회에 정착하여 생활하기 때문에 이들을 대상으로 한 한국어 교육은 언어 교육뿐만 아니라 한국의 사회와 문화에 대한 적응도 도와야 한다. 또한 여성 결혼 이민자는 가정에서 자녀 교육을 전담하는 경우가 많으므로 이들의 한국어 교육은 다문화 가정 자녀의 한국어와 문화 습득에도 큰 영향을 끼친다.
본 연구는 문학 작품을 활용하여 여성 결혼 이민자를 대상으로 한국어와 한국 문화를 포함한 전인 교육을 실시하는 방안을 마련하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 Carter & Long(1991)에 제시된 ‘문학 교육 모형’을 한국어 교육에 적용하여 학습 활동의 예를 제시하였다.
2장에서는 한국어 교육에서 문학 교육의 의의를 제시하였다. 또한 문화 모형, 언어 모형, 개인 성장 모형으로 구성된 문학 교육 모형을 제시하고 문학 교육 모형을 한국어 교육에 적용하기 위한 선행 논의를 바탕으로 문학 교육 모형을 적용한 한국어 교육의 가능성을 살폈다.
3장에서는 여성 결혼 이민자의 국내 체류 현황을 살피고 한국어 학습자로서 이주 여성의 특성을 제시하였다. 이어 이들을 대상으로 한 한국어 교재를 분석하여 문학 작품의 활용이 미비함을 밝혔다. 또한 여성 결혼 이민자의 특성과 한국어 교육에서 문학 작품의 활용 의의를 고려하여 작품 선정의 기준을 제시하였다.
4장에서는 Carter & Long(1991)의 문학 교육 모형을 한국어 교육에 적용하여 『이모의 결혼식』을 활용한 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 구체적인 활용 방안 제시에 앞서 교육 자료로 『이모의 결혼식』을 선정한 이유를 밝혔다. 이어 언어 모형, 문화 모형, 개인 성장 모형으로 나누어 각각의 학습 활동을 제안하였으나 교육 현장에서는 각 모형을 적절히 결합하여 교육 내용을 구성해야 함을 언급하였다.
학습 대상인 여성 결혼 이민자의 요구 조사를 진행하지 못한 점과 구체적인 수업 지도안을 작성하여 교육 현장에 적용하지 못한 점은 본 연구의 미진한 사항이다. 그러나 여성 결혼 이민자의 특성을 고려하여 문학 교육 모형을 적용한 교수 방안을 마련한 본 연구가 향후 여성 결혼 이민자를 대상으로 한 문학 교육에서 작품을 선정하고 교수 방향을 설정하는 데 일조할 수 있으리라 생각한다.

As the advent of a multicultural society, number of female married immigrants in Korea is growing. Since female married immigrants settle down here, the purpose of Korean language education for female married immigrants should not only be a mere language teaching but also it should help them to adopt Korean culture and society. Because usually married immigrants are supposed to be in charge of their children education, Korean language education for female married immigrants gives a remarkable effect on the language and cultural adaptation of their children.
This study aims to come up with a measure to start educating the whole person including of teaching Korean language and culture for female married immigrants. To achieve this, this study provides learning activity by applying the model of literature class by Carter & Long(1991) to Korean language education.
In Chapter 2, it focused on the significance of Korean literature education as a second language. And it also suggested the model of literature class consisting of the cultural model, the language model and the personal growth model. And it studied a capability of teaching Korean as a second language applied the model of literature class based on advanced study for adapting the model of literature class to Korean education as a second language.
In Chapter 3, it surveyed a status of female married immigrant staying in Korea, and presented their characteristics as a Korean language learner. Then it analyzed textbooks for them and ascertained a lack of using literature works. So it presented a selection criteria of literature works considering the characteristics of female married immigrants and utilization of literature in Korean education as a second language.
In Chapter 4, it proposed an education program using 『aunt’s wedding』 by applying the model of literature class by Carter & Long(1991) to Korean education as a second language. Before applying the model of literature class, it explained why it selected 『aunt’s wedding』 as an object of Korean education as a second language. Then the model of literature class classified into three group and suggested individual teaching activities, but each model should be combined properly in education practice.
The drawback of this research is that it could not survey female married immigrants’ need and could not teach by detailed instruction model. But it will be able to choose literary works in the literature class for them and to establish way of teaching, because this study adapts the model of literature class which consider characteristics of them.
