매년 빠르게 성장하는 다문화 인구로 인해 한국은 급속하게 다문화사회에 접어들고 있으며 그들의 자녀인 다문화 학생 수 또한 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 다문화 학생들은 학교생활에서 미숙... 매년 빠르게 성장하는 다문화 인구로 인해 한국은 급속하게 다문화사회에 접어들고 있으며 그들의 자녀인 다문화 학생 수 또한 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 다문화 학생들은 학교생활에서 미숙한 한국어와 소외로 부적응을 겪고 있다. 이와 같이, 다문화 양상으로 변화하는 학교 교육을 지원하고 보다 구체적이고 적용 가능한 학교도서관에서의 다문화 서비스를 개발하기 위한 기초 연구로 이 연구에서는 학교도서관에서의 다문화 서비스에 대한 가능성을 다음과 같이 살펴보았다. 첫째, 학교도서관과 다문화 서비스에 대해 각각 국내의 기준과 정책을 분석하여 이를 기능 중심으로 정리하였고, 이를 다시 학교도서관 기능 중심으로 다문화서비스를 매핑하여 학교도서관에서의 다문화 서비스를 위한 서비스 요소를 도출하였다. 둘째, 앞에서 도출된 다문화 서비스 요소의 타당성을 확인하고 현재 학교도서관의 다문화 서비스에 대한 현황을 확인하기 위하여, 학교도서관 사서 및 사서교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 설문 결과, 대다수의 학교도서관 사서 및 사서교사는 학교도서관내 다문화 서비스에 관한 비전이나 목표가 없으며 예산, 자료, 연수 경험의 유무 등의 측면에서 현재의 상황이 상당히 부족하다고 응답하였다. 또한 학교도서관 기능 중심의 다문화 서비스 요소를 확인한 결과, 장서 제공 위주의 서비스가 다양한 측면에서 가장 높은 비율을 보여주었다. 이러한 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 보다 학교도서관에 적합한 다문화 서비스를 개발하기 위하여 이용자 관점에서의 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다. 또한 예산과 장서 구성, 시설 및 설비, 인적자원 개발 등에 대해 학교도서관에서의 다문화 서비스를 위한 모형 또는 기준이 개발되어야 할 필요가 있다.

Multicultural students inexperienced in Korean and alienated from Korean students are having a maladjustment. In this study, the possibility for multi-cultural services in the school libraries are examined to support school education in multicultural surroundings and to provide foundations to develop the multicultural service appropriate for school library. First, based on domestic standards and policies for both school libraries and multicultural services are analyzed in the aspects of their functions. And again, elements for multicultural services in school libraries were derived through mapping the multicultural service factors with the functions of school libraries. Second, a survey is carried out for teacher librarians and school librarians in order to validate elements for multicultural services in school libraries and to investigate the current status of multicultural services in school libraries. As a result of survey, most of respondents answer that there are no vision statements or purpose for multicultural school library services, and there are needed to budget, library collections and training programs only for multicultural school library services. Furthermore, it is analyzed that school library multicultural services are collection-oriented.
