최근 동남아시아의 한국어 교육 수요가 많이 늘고 있다. 그러나 이에 따르는 연구 내용은 매우 한정적이며, 특히 발음 관련 연구는 한국어와 대상 언어와의 대조를 바탕으로 이루어지는 경우가 많으므로 다른 분야에 비해 그 내용이나 범위가 더욱 한정적이라는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 체류 외국인 및 유학생의 꾸준한 증가가 있는 베트남 학습자들을 대상으로 발음을 녹음하여 실험음성학적 분석을 통해 이들의 자음 오류에 대한 경향성을 찾았다. 또한 학습자들 모국어의 특징을 이용하여 그들의 자음 오류 발음을 미리 방지하거나, 수정하는 방법으로 이용하였다.
1장에서는 본 연구의 목적에 대한 기술, 선행 연구 검토, 연구 대상 및 한국인에 대한 녹음자 정보와 실험 방법, 이 연구의 의의 및 한계를 설명하였다.
2장에서는 본 연구의 바탕이 되는 대조 분석 가설과 음원 필터 이론을 제시함으로써 본 연구의 이론을 뒷받침하였다.
3장에서는 실험 연구의 바탕이 되는 베트남어와 한국어의 음운 체계를 대조하고, 베트남 학습자들의 요구 분석을 통해 그들이 어려워하는 발음과 실제로 오류로 나타나는 발음들에 대하여 조사하였다.
4장에서는 음성 분석 프로그램인 프라트를 이용하여 베트남 학습자 및 한국인의 녹음 자료를 수치화하였으며, 한국어의 조음 방법 및 조음 위치에 따라 분류하여 비교·분석하였다.
5장에서는 베트남 학습자의 녹음 분석 결과에서 나타나는 오류 발음 및 발음의 어려움에 대하여 기술하였으며, 이를 학습자 모국어의 특징과 연계하여 교수 전략을 제시하였다.
6장에서는 본 연구가 갖는 의의와 한계점을 정리하였으며, 한국어교육에서 발음 교육이 나아가야할 연구 방향 및 과제를 제시하였다.
기존의 베트남 한국어 학습자의 발음 오류 연구가 청취 실험 및 설문 조사에 의존한 반면, 본 연구는 주관적으로 바라볼 수 있는 발음 연구 범위를 실험음성학적 분석을 바탕으로 수치화·객관화하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 본 연구가 베트남 학습자들의 한국어 발음 교육에 있어 더욱 효과적이고 이해하기 쉬운 교수 전략을 수립하기 위한 연구들에 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

Recently, there is a growing education demand on the Korean language in Southeast Asia. However, research on the field concerned is very limited and pronunciation research, in particular, is even more limited in its content and scope since such research is based on comparison between Korean and a given target language. This study targets learners of the Korean language from Vietnam who are growing in numbers and are either workers or students in Korea. Their pronunciation was recorded and analyzed through experimental phonetics to identify a trend in their mistakes of speaking Korean consonants. Their mistakes in pronouncing Korean consonants were prevented or corrected through the utilization of characteristics of their native language.
Chapter 1 states the purpose of this study, reviews previous studies, and explains information on study target (Vietnamese and Koreans) and method of experiment, and the meaning and limits of this study.
Chapter 2 supports the study theory by presenting Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis and Source-Filter Theory, which are the basis of this study.
Chapter 3 compares the phonological system of Vietnamese and Korean serving as the basis of this study, and examines pronunciations that Vietnamese have difficult saying and those that are actually shown to be difficult in the form of mistakes Vietnamese make through analysis of demands made by learners from Vietnam.
Chapter 4 quantifies recordings of Vietnamese learners and Koreans by utilizing sound analysis program called “Praat,” and compares and analyzes articulation methods and location of the Korean and Vietnamese languages.
Chapter 5 states incorrect pronunciation and difficulty in pronunciation identified in the analysis result of recordings of Vietnamese learners, and comes up with teaching strategies by linking the analysis result with the characteristics of the Vietnamese language.
Chapter 6 states the meaning and limits of this study, and presents direction and challenges of pronunciation education in the context of Korean language education as a whole.
Whereas the existing studies on the mistakes made by the learners of the Korean language from Vietnam relied on listening experiment and surveys, this study quantifies and materializes pronunciation research, which can be deemed subjective, based on experimental phonetic analysis. That is what makes this study more meaningful. It is hoped that this study will be of help to other studies designed to draw up more effective and easy-to-understand teaching strategies to educate Vietnamese learners on Korean pronunciation.
