오늘날 예술교육의 중요성이 부각되고 음악교육이 보편화되면서 피아노는 가장 대중화된 악기가 되었다. 그리고 피아노를 배우는 아이들은 장래에 연주가로 성공하고자 하는 것 뿐 만이 아니라, 개인적인 취미나 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 것 등으로 피아노를 배우는 목적이 다양화 되었다. 피아노를 배우는 개개인의 목적이 다를지라도 예술적으로 악곡을 연주 할 수 있는 기반의 마련은 피아노 기초 교육에 있어서 중요한 목표가 되어야 한다. 특히, 피아노 기초 교육에서 적절한 교재의 선택은 교육의 방향과 효과를 결정할 만큼 매우 중요하다.
우리나라는 피아노 기초 교재로「바이엘」(Beyer) 을 주로 사용해 왔다. 그러나 최근에는 아동의 발달 과정에 맞고 아동의 흥미와 관심을 자극하며 동시에 음악의 기본적인 원리를 기초 단계부터 균형 있게 가르치려는 꾸준한 노력으로 다양한 피아노 교육 교재들이 출판되어 왔다. 그 대표적인 교재로는 [베스틴](Bestien), [알프레드](Alfred), [피아노 어드벤쳐](Piano Adventure)를 꼽을 수 있다.
본 논문은 가장 최근에 국내에 소개된「피아노 어드벤처」(Piano Adventure) 교재의 학습 내용을 분석하여 음악개념을 어떻게 접근하고 있는지를 살펴봄으로써, 피아노 기초 학습을 하는데 도움을 주어 피아노 기초 교육에 질적인 향상을 도모하는데 그 목적이 있다.
분석 자료는 미국에서 수입되어 한국어로 번역 출간된「피아노 어드벤처」교재 이다. 분석 방법은 음악 학자들이 제시하는 피아노 교재의 평가 기준을 요약하고 이를 종합하여 교재의 분석 기준을 정하였고, 이에 따라 「피아노 어드벤처」교재를 분석하였다. 그리고 이 교재의 학습 내용을 분석함으로써 교재가 갖고 있는 장점과 단점 및 보완되어야 할 점에 대해 살펴보았다.
교재의 문제점을 해소하고 교사와 기초 학습자 모두에게 최대한의 만족을 주는 교재를 선택하기 위해서는 다른 교재와 상호 보완이 가능하도록 피아노 교재에 대한 연구가 꾸준히 이루어져야 한다.
그러므로 효율적인 피아노 기초 교육이 되기 위해서는 교재의 선택과 병용에서부터 교사의 세심한 노력과 지속적인 연구 자세가 필요하다. 피아노 지도교사의 전문성을 바탕으로 하여 피아노 기초 교재에 대한 구체적인 연구가 끊이지 않아야 할 것이다.

These days, piano became most common music instrument for the people in Korea with rising importance of art education and average piano education. And purpose of piano education become universal and diversified for the piano students because they not only want to be a pianist as a good player, but also learn it as a hobby or for quality of living. However, setting of the base for the fundamental art play by note should be an important goal for the basic piano education tough purpose of piano learning would be different by individual. Especially, selection of adequate textbook in basic piano education is very important as to decide direction and effect of the education.
In Korea, Beyer has been major textbook for basic piano textbook. But many text materials have been developed and published in recent years to stimulate student's interest or attention, and to meet child development stage as well as pertinent effort to teach music principle from basic step of equivalent. The typical textbooks are Bestien, Alfred, and Piano Adventure etc.
This thesis focused on Piano Adventure which is introduced to Korea in recent years, and analyze the contents on how it access to the concept of music aiming improvement of quality in basic piano education.
Material analyzed is Piano Adventure imported from America and translated into Korea. The method of analysis is to establish the standard of evaluation for the contents of textbook by the suggested summary of musicologists for piano textbook evaluation standard and integrated it to analyze the Piano Adventure. Also, I reviewed the improvement in the merits and demerits by the analysis of the textbook. Persistent effort of research on the piano textbook and selection which would compliment other textbooks is need to resolute the problems issue and satisfy the basic students and teachers as well.
So, it is necessary elaborate effort of teachers and attitude of continuing study for efficient basic piano education. It means concrete and persistent study for basic piano textbook on the basis of speciality of piano teachers.
