본 연구는 문경시에 거주하고 있는 결혼이주여성 120명을 임의표집 하여 설문 분석 가능한 114명을 결과에 사용하였다. 본 연구는 결혼이주여성 생활만족도를 높일 수 있는 지원정책을 모색하고자 문화적응이라는 독립변인을 도입하여 문화적응과 생활만족도에 상관관계를 살펴보고 다음과 같은 결과 및 제언을 도출하였다.
첫째, 결혼 이주여성들도 과거의 결혼이주여성들보다 지식이나, 학력 등이 차츰 높아지고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 이들 결혼이주여성들의 한국생활에 대한 만족을 충족시켜주기 위해서는 한국의 농촌총각들의 지적수준에 대한 교육 정책마련도 수립되어야 할 것이다. 그리고 결혼이주여성들을 대상으로 저 출산 관련정책과 프로그램을 시행해야 할 것이며, 가족들 간의 사회문화적인 차이를 줄이기 위한 가족지원 프로그램도 필요하다.
둘째, 결혼이주여성들의 경제적 상황은 풍족치 않고, 남편의 수입에 의존하여 살고 있기에 본국으로의 송금횟수나 액수도 상당히 제약을 받고 있는 실정이다. 이들의 결혼사유가 경제적인 이유가 주가 되는 이상 경제적인 여유가 보장되지 않는다면, 결혼생활의 지속에 있어서 상당한 어려움이 수반될 가능성이 높다. 이는 가족해체, 위장결혼, 불법취업 등의 또 다른 사회적 문제를 낳는 계기가 될 수 있다. 따라서 정부에서는 이들이 농촌지역에서도 경제적 자립을 할 수 있는 직업교육, 취업알선 등 경제적인 욕구를 해소해 줄 수 있는 적극적인 정책이 필요하다.
셋째, 결혼이주여성들이 개인의 노력에 따라 적응할 수 있는 한국어사용정도, 여가 이용등의 문화적응은 잘하고 있는 것으로 나타난다. 하지만 가까이에서 생활하고 있는 사람들과는 오히려 더 벽을 느끼고 같이 동화하는 것에 어려움을 느끼고 있었다. 따라서 결혼이주여성들이 한국에서 빠른 적응을 하기 위해서는 단순한 한국문화에 대한 교육프로그램만을 추구할 것이 아니라, 결혼이주여성들의 가족과 그 주변인들에 대한 문화적응 프로그램이 무엇보다 필요하다. 따라서 단순히 결혼이민여성을 대상으로 하는 우리문화에 대한 교육 뿐 아니라 기존에 우리사회 구성원에 대한 결혼이민여성 국가의 문화와 세계 각국에 대한 문화에 민감하게 받아들일 수 있는 다양한 프로그램이 필요하다.
넷째, 결혼이주여성의 생활만족도가 높은 경우는 학력이 낮을수록, 소득이 적을수록 만족도가 높았다. 결혼이주여성들이 결혼생활에 있어서 남편, 시부모, 자녀 등 가족과의 관계보다는 친척들과의 관계에서 약간 더 어려움이 있었다. 이는 농촌지역 유교사회의 사회통념적인 사상들 때문에 시댁 친척들이 이들을 대하는 태도 변화가 필요하다.
이제 우리사회는 결혼이민여성 지원 사업을 실시함에 있어 일회적이고 단순한 우리문화의 홍보나 한글교육 사업에서 벗어나 경제적 자립을 할 수 있는 직업교육, 전문적인교육으로 경제적인 욕구를 해소 할 수 있는 정책이 시급하며, 다문화사회로 발전할 수 있는 장기적인 대안모색이 필요하다. 그리고 지금 어려움을 가지고 있는 결혼이주여성을 위해서는 전문화된 가족상담 서비스와 사례관리서비스를 제공할 수 있는 전문적인 지원센터가 필요하다. 다문화 사회는 우리사회가 피해갈 수 없는 필연적 과정이며, 지구촌 시대의 당연한 산물임을 공감하며, 이주여성들은 하루빨리 우리문화에 적응하여 사회 구성원으로서 제 기능을 다할 수 있는 한국적 공동체로 영위해 나가야 할 것이다.

Acculturation and life satisfaction of immigrant women in Korean Society
As globalization occurs across the world and international connection increases, many countries became nations having a large population of foreign immigrants, and Korea is not the exception. In Korea, a large number of foreign women, particularly from South Asian countries, got married Korean men and immigrated, thus now they constituted one of the major foreign immigrant members in Korea. The aims of the present study were to suggest the supporting systems and necessary services for enhancing their adaptation to Korean society. One hundred and twenty foreign women living in MunGyeong city, Kyungpook, who married Korean men, and immigrated to Korea were selected for the survey. First, as large number of highly educated women have immigrated to Korea for marriage, Korean men need to be educated to meet their standard of living. Thus, diverse education programs should be developed and provided for educating Korean men and alleviating sociocultural gap between them. Second, the general economic status of immigrant women was poor and thus was largely dependent on their husband's income. Therefore, the amount of money which they could transfer to their families living in their native countries would be limited. This situation could result in several social problems including divorce and illegal employment. To solve this socioeconomic problems, government and local community should try to make diverse educational programs to teach them for getting a job to make their self-supporting economy. Third, immigrant women tried to adapt to Korean culture, however they had difficulties in learning. Thus for helping their adaptation to Korean culture, educational programs for both immigrants and their Korean families should be developed.
This is essential, because Korean men also need to be educated to understand other nation's culture for understanding their spouses better. Fourth, immigrant women demonstrated more cultural difficulties in meeting their husbands' relatives than living with husbands, children, and husbands' parents, because they were not used to the traditional Korean ways of Confucian manners for meeting other people. Thus, special educational programs should also be developed for their adapting to this kind of special traditional customs. Taken together, we need to set up more diverse educational programs in addition to teach just Korean language for enhancing their adaptation to Korean society. Moreover, we also need to accept and understand their own cultures to make mutual understanding and to develop a nation of multi-nationality. In addition, we need to set up specialized supporting centers for immigrant women to provide more specialized services including family counseling.
