A considerable amount of research has been done to decipher the mechanism of how listeners perceive non-native sounds. This study was conducted to test validity of an existing cross-language speech perception theory and better understand human perception. More specifically, the present study examines English speakers' perceptual assimilation patterns of Korean monophthongs. Cross-language speech perception concerns the perception of speech stimuli that are unfamiliar to the listener because they occur outside of his/her ambient language environment. Two perceptual tests, identification and 5-choice category rating, were presented to four listeners. The study results reveals that the category goodness rating is relevant to the identification of Koreana vowels. It seems reasonable to suppose that the Korean vowels with relatively high category goodness rating would be readily accepted as instances of an English vowel category, whereas those with relatively low category goodness rating would be heard either as "foreign" or as distorted instances of an English category. This finding and the results as a whole are substantially consistent with PAM at least in terms of assimilation patterns. Future research needs to be conducted to investigate whether difficulty in cross-language perception will vary considerably as a function of the context or acoustic cues in which vowels are presented.
비모국어 말소리를 지각하는 메커니즘을 해독하기 위한 상당수의 연구들 이 진행되어져 왔다. 본 연구는 기존의 말소리에 대한 지각이론의 타당성을 검증하고 인간의 말소리 지각에 대한 ... 비모국어 말소리를 지각하는 메커니즘을 해독하기 위한 상당수의 연구들 이 진행되어져 왔다. 본 연구는 기존의 말소리에 대한 지각이론의 타당성을 검증하고 인간의 말소리 지각에 대한 이해를 증진시키기 위하여 실시되었다. 보다 구체적으로 언급하자면, 이 연구는 한국어의 단모음에 대한 영어권 화자 의 지각적 동화패턴을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 언어간 말소리 지각은 청자의 언어 환경의 범주를 벗어난 낯선 말소리 자극에 관한 것이다. 이러한 목적으 로 식별검사와 5점 척도의 카테고리 적합도 평가검사를 실시하였다. 실험결과 는 카테고리 적합도 평가와 한국어 모음의 식별은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나 타났다. 이는 상대적으로 높은 카테고리 적합도 평점을 얻은 한국어 모음은 영어 모음 목록의 사례로 쉽사리 수용될 수 있는 반면, 낮은 카테고리 적합도 평점을 얻은 한국어 모음은 “낯선” 혹은 영어의 모음 목록의 왜곡된 사례로 들릴 수 있는 것으로 간주될 수 있음을 시사한다. 전반적인 연구결과는 적어 도 동화패턴의 측면에서는 PAM과 양립한다. 추후 후속 연구에서는 모음이 제 시되는 문맥과 음향적 단서에 따라 청자들의 지각적 동화 패턴이 달라지는지 의 여부를 조사해볼 필요가 있겠다. ，免费韩语论文，韩语毕业论文 |
