존 라세터(John Lasseter)의 애니메이션은 다양한 시대의 변화 속에서도 꾸준하게 변함없이 흥행신화를 이어오고 있다. 그의 애니메이션은 미학적인 가치가 있을 뿐만 아니라 상업적으로도 상... 존 라세터(John Lasseter)의 애니메이션은 다양한 시대의 변화 속에서도 꾸준하게 변함없이 흥행신화를 이어오고 있다. 그의 애니메이션은 미학적인 가치가 있을 뿐만 아니라 상업적으로도 상당한 가치를 가지고 있으며, 여러 차례의 국제적인 수상을 통해 이를 입증했다. 본고에서는 우선 스토리텔링 관련 이론을 통해 <주토피아> 애니메이션의 스토리텔링 특징을 분석할 뿐만 아니라 이 애니메이션을 통해 존 라세터가 자주 사용하는 스토리텔링 논리를 분석하였다. 그리고 영화에 내포된 주제 의식과 가치적 취향을 찾아 스토리텔링의 측면에서 그의 애니메이션 영화가 성공할 수 있는 원인을 분석할 것이다. 제1장은 서론으로 주요하게 본고의 연구목표, 연구방법, 연구의의, 연구의 창의점 등을 서술하였다. 제2장 제1절에서는 본고의 이론 배경을 소개하였는데 이 중에서는 스토리텔링 이론, 스토리텔링의 의미, 애니메이션 영화의 스토리텔링, 애니메이션 중 할리우드 스토리텔링 방식, 애니메이션 스토리텔링의 시청자 분석이 포함된다. 제2절에서는 애니메이션 스토리텔링의 시간과 공간 등을 소개하였는데 이는 본 연구의 본론에 대한 이론적 기초가 될 것이다. 제3, 4장에서는 <주토피아>를 사례로 애니메이션 스토리텔링의 콘텐츠를 연구하였다. 본고에서는 주요하게 사람들의 관심을 유발하는 테마와 가치관, 우아한 화면 스타일 디자인과 생동한 캐릭터 모양, 애니메이션 영화의 스토리텔링 구조, 줄거리 및 세부사항 등을 통해 <주토피아>의 스토리텔링 구조 및 특징을 분석하였다. 더불어 영화의 주요 캐릭터들의 성격분석을 설문조사와 함께 진행하여, 그 근거를 제시하고자 하였다. 이상의 분석을 통해 존 라세터 애니메이션 영화의 스토리텔링 특징을 정리할 수 있고 그 중에 내포된 문화적인 관점과 가치, 그리고 이러한 관점에 포함된 다양한 의미를 분석하였다. 미약하나마 이러한 과정을 통해 진행된 본 연구가 애니메이션 영화의 스토리텔링 연구와 창작에 참고 가능한 사례로 제공되길 희망한다.

His animations not only have aesthetic values but also very high commercial values. This is proved through several times of international awards. In this , firstly, through storytelling theory, the characteristics of the storytelling in the animation Zootopia and the storytelling theories that are often used by John Lasseter will be analyzed. Furthermore, the reasons of his success in the animation movies will be analyzed in the aspect of storytelling by finding out the thematic consciousness and value orientation. The first chapter, as an introduction, described the research purpose, method, meaning and creative points of this study. In the first part of chapter 2, the theoretical background of this was introduced. It included the methods and meaning of storytelling, the storytelling in the animation movies, the Hollywood storytelling method in the animation and the analysis of the audience of animation storytelling. In the second part, the time and space of animation storytelling were introduced. This will become the theoretical foundation of the main part of this study. In chapter 3 and 4, taking Zootopia as the case, the contents of animation storytelling were studied. In this , through the themes and values that people are interested in, elegant scene style design, vivid character shape, storytelling structure of the animation movies, plot and details, the structure and characteristics of the storytelling in Zootopia were analyzed. In addition, the personalities of main characters of this movie were analyzed by survey and the grounds were proposed also. Through the analysis above, the storytelling characteristics of John Lasseter’s animation movies could be summarized. The cultural perspectives, values and various meanings inside it were analyzed.
