본 논문은 2015년부터 2016년까지 제작한 작품을 중심으로 표현 목적 과 형성 배경, 형상화 과정과 조형성에 대해 분석함으로써 연구자의 작 업을 체계적으로 제시하기 위한 작품 연구 논문이... 본 논문은 2015년부터 2016년까지 제작한 작품을 중심으로 표현 목적 과 형성 배경, 형상화 과정과 조형성에 대해 분석함으로써 연구자의 작 업을 체계적으로 제시하기 위한 작품 연구 논문이다. 연구자는 인간의 의식에 대해 고찰하고, 이를 통해 자아를 스스로 돌 보는 것이야말로 ‘인간으로서 존재함’의 필연적 당위성을 확보하는 것이 라고 생각한다. 이에 인간의 의식 작용이 갖는 특징을 연구자의 주관적 심상을 통해 작품으로 표출하고자 하였다. 표현 과정에서 외부 현실에 존재하는 객관적인 대상을 소재로 하였다. 연구자는 주변에서 쉽게 볼 수 있는 ‘개미’에 새로운 상징성을 부여하여 연구의 소재로 삼았다. 작품에서 개미는 쉽게 드러나지 않지만 군집을 통해서 눈에 띄게 드러나게 되는 존재를 의미한다. 이에 개미를 인간 의 식 속에서 관념이나 감정, 지식 등을 이루고 있는 구성요소로서 나타내 고자 하였다. 인간의 의식 활동은 숨 쉬듯 자연스럽게 이루어지기 때문 에 인간 스스로 그것에 집중하지 않는다면 쉽게 드러나지 않는다. 연구 자의 심상 속에 존재하는 ‘의식’은 단순한 덩어리가 아닌, 작은 요소들이 뭉치기도 하고 따로 떨어져 다니기도 하는 하나의 공간이다. 이 때 심상 속 작은 요소들이 개미의 형상으로 구체화되는 것이다. 연구자는 개미의 군집형상을 통해 거시적으로 인간의 의식작용에 대해 나타내고자 하였으며, 미시적으로는 개미형상이 집단 사회 속 개인으로 서 인간의 모습을 동시에 드러내도록 표현하고자 하였다. 작품 속 개미 군집형상은 개인과 개인이 얽혀 집단을 이루고 살아가는 우리 관계의 모 습을 의미하기도 한다. 이와 같은 내용을 조형화하는 데에 있어서 옻칠이라는 전통 재료를 중 요한 매체로 사용하였다. 옻칠은 물성(物性)에 의해 다루기 까다로운 재 료이다. 그러나 연구자는 옻칠이 사용하기 까다로운 만큼 다른 회화의 재료에 비해 차별성 있는 표현이 가능한 재료일 것으로 보았다. 다른 매체와의 혼합에도 유리한 옻칠의 특성이 새로운 표현기법을 연구하는 데 에 있어서 만족스러운 효과를 낼 수 있을 것으로 기대하였으며, 다양한 실험을 통해서 기존 회화와 차별화되는 표현을 시도해보고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study is presenting researcher‘s artworks systematically by analyzing expression purpose, formation background, imagery process, and formativeness, focusing on works produced from 2015 to 2016. The researcher thinks that considering human consciousness and then taking care of ego itself are securing the inevitable appropriateness of ‘being as a man’. Therefore, the researcher was to express common ground of human consciousness action in works through subjective image of the researcher. In this study, the researcher used an objective object existing in external reality as a material in expression process. The researcher gave new symbolism ‘ant’ that is easy to see, so used it as a material of the study. In works, ant means the existence that is not easily exposed but is visibly exposed through crowding. Therefore, the researcher was to represent ant as an element forming idea, feeling, and knowledge in human consciousness. Human conscious activity is naturally conducted, so if people themselves do not concentrate on it, it is not easily exposed. ‘Consciousness’ existing in the image of the researcher is not a simple lump but one space where small elements gather and separate. At this moment, small elements in the image shape up as a figure of ant. The researcher is to represent human consciousness action macroscopically through collective figures of ant, and to express it microscopically to make the figure of ant expose a man as an individual in social group at the same time. The collective figures of ant in works mean human relation that an individual and other individual are entwined so form a group. In modeling these contents, Ottchill that is a traditional material was used as an important medium. Ottchill is a material that is complicated to be handled by a property of matter. However, in this reason, the researcher thinks Ottchill is a material that can express differently in comparison to other artists materials.
