문화적 목적을 실현하지 못한 건축은 불완전하다. 건축가들은 다양한 방법의 노력으로 문화적 목적에 접근을 시도한다. 하지만 현재 대한민국의 장례식장이 그 대상에 있는지는 의문이다. ... 문화적 목적을 실현하지 못한 건축은 불완전하다. 건축가들은 다양한 방법의 노력으로 문화적 목적에 접근을 시도한다. 하지만 현재 대한민국의 장례식장이 그 대상에 있는지는 의문이다. 특히 병원 부속 장례식장의 경우 그 계획에 있어 섬세함이 요구됨에도 불구하고 획일적인 형태의 장례식장이 계속 반복되고 있다. 병원 장례식장은 가장 높은 비율로 장례식이 행해지는 공간 임에도 불구하고 병원 장례식장의 건축적 답보는 불합리한 간극을 생산해내게 된다. 본 연구는 간극에 대한 해결을 위해 장례 문화와 장례 공간의 간극에 대한 이해를 도모해보고자 한다. 현재 병원 장례식장이 지니고 있는 간극은 단순하지 않다. 이에 대한 이해를 위해선 통사적인 시각과 거시적 관점에서의 관찰, 미시적 관점에서의 재조명이 동시에 필요할 것이다. 또한 그것들의 조합을 통해야만 좀 더 정확한 추론이 가능할 것이다. 이를 위해 우선 병원 장례식장의 현황을 분석하여 병원 장례식장이 가지고 있는 간극에 대하여 정리하였다. 간극의 도출에 있어서 최대한 객관적인 시각을 유지하고자 노력했으며, 이때 분석 방법은 거시적 분석과 관계성 분석, 공간적 분석을 통하여 병원 장례식장을 가장 먼 곳에서 바라보기 시작하여 그 내부 구조까지 들여다보는 순서를 취하고자 한다. 분석의 대상으로 선정한 7개의 병원의 경우, 분석의 보편성을 위하여 서울지역에 위치한 공공의료기관을 위주로 분석하였다. 자료의 경우 평면도를 이용한 분석이 주를 이루며, 현대 장례절차에 따른 해당 병원의 동선과 공간 구조에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 도출된 병원 장례식장의 간극의 원인을 분석하기 위한 연구는 다음의 3가지 방법으로 이뤄진다. 첫 번째로 병원장례식장의 등장 배경에 대한 분석이다. 이는 사회적 배경과 물리적 배경에 대한 이해를 통하여 분석한다. 두 번째는 병원 장례식장의 운영 구조에 대한 분석이다. 이는 병원 장례식장의 실제 설립과 운영에 대한 실제적인 요소들을 이해하고자 한다. 마지막으론 병원 장례식장의 장례절차에 대한 이해이다. 이는 대한민국의 전통 장례절차에 대한 이해로부터 출발하여 현대 장례절차를 비교, 병원 장례식장의 공간과의 일치성을 분석하게 된다. 그리고 이상의 분석을 통하여 정리된 내용을 간극과 연결지어 원인을 도출하여 결론으로 정리하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 시도되는 분석 방식은 예리함이나 정확성의 측면에서 부족함이 있으리라 생각된다. 하지만 이러한 시도를 통해 새로운 부분이 조명되고, 병원 장례식장의 구성과 계획단계에 있어 좀 더 넓은 시야를 제공하여 병원 장례식장이 지니고 있는 간극에 대한 이해의 단초가 되길 바란다.

Despite the fact that the hospital funeral hall is the place where the funeral is held at the highest rate, the architectural stance of the hospital funeral hall produces irrational gaps. The purpose of this study is to understand the gap between the funeral culture and the funeral space in order to solve the gap. The gap that the hospital funeral hall currently has is not simple. In order to understand this, it is necessary to observe both the syntactic and macroscopic viewpoints and the microscopic viewpoints. It is also possible to make more precise reasoning by combining them. For this purpose, the status of the hospital funeral hall was first analyzed and the gap of the hospital funeral hall was summarized. In trying to maintain the most objective viewpoint in the derivation of the gap, the analytical method was to look at the hospital funeral hall from the farthest point through macroscopic analysis, relationship analysis, and spatial analysis, do. In the case of seven hospitals selected as the subjects of analysis, public hospitals located in the Seoul area were analyzed for the universality of analysis. In the case of the data, the analysis using the floor plan was mainly performed, and the analysis of the movement and space structure of the hospital according to the modern funeral procedure was carried out. In order to analyze the cause of the gap in the hospital funeral hall, the following three methods are used. The first is the analysis of the background of the appearance of the hospital funeral hall. It has analyzed through understanding of social background and physical background. The second is an analysis of the operational structure of the hospital funeral home. It aims to understand the practical elements of the actual establishment and operation of hospital funerals. Finally, it is an understanding of the funeral process of the hospital funeral hall. It starts from the understanding of the traditional funeral process of Korea and compares the modern funeral process and analyzes the correspondence with the space of the hospital funeral hall. Through the above analysis, it is concluded that the contents are summarized by linking the contents to the gap. The analytical method tried through this study seems to be insufficient in terms of sharpness and accuracy.
