해파문화는 중국 상해에서 대표적인 지역문화이다. 해파는 복경에서 대표적인 경파(京派)와 대조되며 중국에서 가장 주류적인 지방문화이다. 이 중에서 해파영화는 주류에게 가장 많이 알려진 문화이다. 해파영화는 주로 ‘상해’를 배경으로 자본주의적 의식을 가진 인물들이 근대 상해문화를 재현하는 영화를 말한다.
개항 이후 형성된 해파문화는 1930년대에 접어들면서 새로운 국면을 맞이하는데, 이는 ‘민족주의’와 ‘사회주의’의 영향으로 인한 상해도시문화에 대한 비판적 관점과 연관되어 있다. 중일전쟁 이후 제작된 국공내전 시기 해파영화는 한편으로는 이러한 1930년대 해파영화를 계승하였지만, 또 다른 한편으로는 중일전쟁과 국공내전의 여파로 인해 이전의 영화들과 차이를 보인다.
현대사회에서 페미니즘, 여성심리학, 여성의 독립 등에 대해 큰 의의가 있다. 해파영화는 중국최초의 지역특성이 있는 대표적인 영화파로서 여러 가지 대표적인 여성캐릭터를 만들었다. 20세기 1930년대부터 1950년대까지 이 가운데 대표적인 해파여성캐릭터를 분석하고 중국여성의 이미지와 심리변화도 알아볼 수 있다. 해파영화에서 대표적인 여성캐릭터는 《神女》<신녀>중의 매춘부, 《新女性》<신여성>중의 여주인공韋明, 《三個摩登女性》<세 명의 모던 여성>중의 세 명 모던 여성 등 다양한 여성캐릭터를 분석하고 갖고 있는 특징을 다 분석하겠다. 이 논문은 해파영화의 역사, 해파영화의 여성 캐릭터 분석을 통하여 한 지역의 영화문화를 분석한 것이다. 해파영화중 현재 남아있는 자료 분석을 통하여 그 시대의 사회배경, 여성생각, 사회, 가족 등 상황을 알 수 있다. 또한 20세기 비해파 중국영화의 여성캐릭터와 비교하고 그 중에서 대표적인 여성캐릭터를 분석하겠다. 지금까지 중국영화사에서 대표적인 여성캐릭터는 많다. 그 시대의 여성이미지는 현대의 여성캐릭터와 어떤 차이가 있는지 분석하고 현대영화의 여성캐릭터는 해파영화로 어떤 영향을 받았는지 살펴보겠다. 이 과정을 통하여 해파영화중의 여성이미지 뿐만 아니라 동양여성의 이미지와 이 시대의 여성이미지와 심리변화를 알 수 있다.

Haipei is the leading regional culture in Shanghai, China. Haipei is in contrast to Jingpei of Beijing and the most popular regional culture. Haipei movies are the most known aspect of the culture. Most of the movies are set in Shanghai and the main characters who exhibit capitalism are emersed in the modern day Shanghai.
Having been established since the opening, Haipei enters into a new phase staring the early 1930's. This new phase is related to the criticism given to Shanghai Culture that is influenced between Nationalism and Socialism. The Civil war period Haipei movies after the China Japan War, inherited such 1930's Haipei movies on one hand but on the other, these movies are distinguished from others due to the effects of the China Japan War and The Civil war.
In the modern society, there is much significance in various areas such as feminism, female psychology, and women's independence. Haipei movies are the first in China to show regional characteristics and have created a primary female character. 20th century Chinese women's image and psychological evolution can be analyzed from the Haipei movies between the 30's to the 50's. The three major modern females among others from the Haipei movies to be analyzed are, New Girl's prostitute, New Women's Wei Ming, Three Modern Women's three main characters. This will include analysis of one region's movie culture through the analysis of Haipei movie's history and its female characters. Social background, female psychology, society, family, and other issues of each period can be drawn from the analysis of remaining data of Haipei movies. Moreover, important female characters will be analyzes from other chinese movies. There have been many female characters in Chinese movie history. Each period's female image will be compared with the modern day female image to analyze the effect of Haipei female characters have on modern female characters. Through the analysis, not only Haipei female characters can be studied but also the image and psychological transformation in Asian women.
