본 논문은 국내 대중음악 시장의 가장자리에 위치하고 있는 연주자들의 경쟁력 강화에 대해 연주자들의 작곡역량에 따라 크게 다르다는 것을 연구 하였다. 연주자 중 기타리스트를 중심... 본 논문은 국내 대중음악 시장의 가장자리에 위치하고 있는 연주자들의 경쟁력 강화에 대해 연주자들의 작곡역량에 따라 크게 다르다는 것을 연구 하였다. 연주자 중 기타리스트를 중심으로 조사 분석 하였으며 국내의 경우 과거와 현재를 걸쳐 왕성한 활동을 보이고 있는 연주자들을 조사하여 그들이 그럴 수 있었던 이유를 작곡역량과 창작의지에서 찾을 수 있었고 반면에 역사 속에 사라진 연주자들을 창작 작품 분석을 통해 원인을 짐작 할 수 있었다. 해외의 경우는 국내와 조금 다르다. 연주자의 문화 사회적 위치는 가수나 작곡가등과 크게 다르지 않다. 하지만 역시 세계적인 연주자 아티스트 들은 작곡에 대한 열정 또한 높다는 것을 그들의 작품을 통해 알 수 있다. 연주자는 아니지만 아이돌 출신 아티스트를 선정하여 조사해본 결과 작곡역량이 음악인의 경쟁력과 활동수명에 크게 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 음악가와 음악평론가 들을 인터뷰에서 연주자의 기술적인 부분과 사회적인 부분을 들을 수 있었다. 이 과정에서 연주자에게 창작의 영역을 지켜주고 인정해주어야 하는 팀의 리더 나 프로듀서의 생각과 더불어 연주자 자신도 기계적인 연주보다는 ‘Creative’ 한 연주를 고민해야 하며 나아가 자신만의 음악을 구현할 수 있는 능력을 개발해야 한다. 과학 기술의 발달로 인한 대중음악의 형태와 조건이 변화고 있다 이러한 시점에서 연주자 스스로는 작곡 역량의 개발을 통한 경쟁력을 높여가야 가며 사회는 음악가들의 작곡의 영역에 대한 논의가 더욱 활발히 이루어져야 한다. 그로인해 창작의 필요성을 확보하여 음악의 경쟁력 강화에 큰 밑거름을 만들어야한다.

This explores on how the capability of composing influences the competitiveness of instrument players who are non-mainstream musicians. This analysis is focuses on guitarist. In Korea, specifically, a higher degree of passion and productivity for composing has been revealed among the instrument plays who have been actively and continuously playing. On the contrary, after studying the musicians who were short-lived, the study was able to establish a hypothetical reason for their ephemeron. In other countries, however, social perception or reputation of instrument plays is not much different from that of composers and singer. On top of that, stronger passion for composing music is exposed through their works. Artists who made debut as idol stars(mainstream pop-music boy or girl bands) are studied on this even though they are not necessarily instrument plays. As a result, it is shown that competitiveness of musicians and their career length are affected by their ability to compose. Through conducting interviews with musicians and critics. they delivered professional opinions on both social and technical aspects of instrument players' skills. In this process, it is critical that band leaders and lead-producers grant enough freedom for players to creatively compose. Furthermore, players should also have the attitude to play music creatively and actively, as opposed to passively, in order to establish their own artistic values. Advance in technology has ushered into a new era, in which styles and characteristics of pop music are constantly changing. It is essential to acknowledge such change in this ever-changing music industry. Instrument players must improve their composing skill to develop their artistic values, and society should also support progressive discussions about composition.
