본 논문은 한국 내 대학에서 학위 과정 진학을 위해 즉, 학문 목적으로 한국어를 공부하는 일본어권 학습자들을 위한 외래어 교육 방안에 대한 연구이다.
지금까지 한국어교육에서는 외래어 차용 과정이 전혀 다른 중국인 학습자를 대상으로 한 외래어의 목록 선정과 교육 방안에 대해 활발하게 논의가 되어 왔으며, 일본인 학습자들을 대상으로 한 외래어 교육에 대한 논의는 거의 없었다. 그러나 대상에 따른 외래어 차용에 차이가 분명히 존재할 뿐만 아니라 어떤 경우에는 동일한 외래어가 일본어와 한국어에서 의미 영역이 일치하지 않아 실제적인 어려움을 겪고 있는 것이 사실이다. 그러므로 이 연구에서는 학문목적 일본어권 학습자들에게 필요한 외래어 목록은 무엇이며, 선정된 목록을 어떤 순서로 가르쳐야 하는지, 그리고 어떻게 가르치면 교육적으로 해당 어휘를 효율적으로 습득할 수 있을지에 대해 모색해 보았다.
2장에서 일본어권 학습자들에게 필요한 학문 목적 한국어 외래어의 범위를 설정한 다음에 3장에서 교재 분석을 통해 외래어 목록을 선정하였다. 본 연구에서 대상이 된 어휘는 일반 학문 목적 한국어 어휘, 즉 전공과목이 아닌 일반교양 과목에 대비한 것이므로 유학생 수가 많은 경희대, 이화여대, 연세대, 및 유학생 비율이 높은 선문대에서 사용되고 있는 일반 학문 목적 한국어 교재에서 외래어를 추출해, 제외, 보충 작업을 거쳐 어휘 선정이 이루어졌다. 또한 외래어 목록의 배열에 대해서는 어휘 사용 빈도의 관점을 고려하였다.
이러한 절차를 거쳐 선정된 어휘 목록이 학습자에게 유용한 학습 자료가 되기 위해서는 해당 어휘와 일본어 어휘와의 차이점을 바탕으로 한 정보를 제시할 필요가 있을 것이다.
4장에서 살펴 본 결과, 목록에 있는 302개의 어휘들은 일본어에서도 유사한 외래어를 쓰는 것과 양 언어 간에서 차이점이 있는 것, 크게 두 가지로 나눌 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 유사한 어휘를 쓰는 경우에는 학습자가 해당 어휘를 적합하게 인식하는 데 어려움이 있으므로 음운적 정보의 필요성을 주장하였다.
한편, 양 언어 간에서 어휘 사용의 차이가 있는 경우에는 형태·의미적 정보의 필요성을 주장하였다. 이 음운적 정보와 형태·의미적 정보는 실제 교육 현장에서도 활용할 수 있을 것이며, 4.3.에서 그 교육적 적용에 관한 원리를 제시 단계와 연습 단계에 나누어 기술하였다.
이와 같이, 본 연구에서는 학문목적 일본어권 학습자를 위해 외래어 어휘 선정과 한일 어휘 대조를 통한 제시 정보 고찰을 중심으로 논의를 진행하였다.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate an effective way of explanation about Korean borrowed words for learners whose mother tongue are Japanese.
Most studies on borrowed words in Korean language education have emphasized that it was difficult for Chinese learners to learn Korean borrowed words and have not paid attention to Japanese learners well. However, Korean and Japanese borrowed words also have different aspects in terms of phonology and semantics. That is why Japanese learners have a difficulty in learning Korean borrowed words actually.
In this point of view, this thesis aims at investigating what kind of lists of borrowed words they need and the way teachers explain the borrowed words to learners.
At first, this thesis examined the textbooks for academic purpose and selected the list of borrowed words.
Secondly, it compared the borrowed words used in Korean and Japanese, and showed that we could devide the differences in using borrowed words between the two languages : the phonemic difference, and morphemic and semantic difference.
And then, it insisted the importance to reflect on the differences of using borrowed words in two languages when they gave the information about the words to the learners.
This study would not only help the learners to study in the University but also be the basic work for developing methods of teaching borrowed words to learners who have various language backgrounds.
