Improvement of thinking power, the ability of logical expression of one's opinion and creativity can be expected through activities of enjoying Tanka and sharing the feelings. At the same time the inside emotion of Japanese people can be experienced indirectly.
It seems that using poetry as the classroom activities is beneficial for language and non language function however the meaning of the poetry is not easily understood because words in short sentences of the poetry contain emotion and thoughts and even each word tells its alive feelings. In addition learning poetry of foreign language and culture can be a burden. Tawaramachi's Tanka has been chosen for making up difficulties of poetry lessons mentioned above.
The special features of Tawaramachi's Tanka are seen in direct expressions of feelings and singing of love which is somewhat different style but is common to be found in any other culture. It is easily accepted without using difficult archaic words and literary expressions but using modern conversational language and direct expression of the feeling with common subjects.
Lessons that use sentences in Tawaramachi's Tanka will help students to memorize sentences and easily get attention of learners because subjects are mostly love and breaking up.
Additionally students can experience modern colloquial style of Japanese language including borrowed words. This means during students enjoy Tanka and share the feelings they can learn detail words and forms of sentences naturally.
In this study the preceding research of poetry lessons from the school of Korean language, English language and Japanese language is mentioned. Then study of Japanese people and the history of Tanka, especially the character of Tawaramachi's Tanka had been carried out. Lastly researches of the student target group, expected effect, opposite effects are introduced as well as suggestions for weak points.
In depth study of using Tawaramachi's Tanka in college level Japanese language class, studies of practical ways of using it as language and non language function had been suggested such as vocabulary and grammar in language function, appreciation of the poetry as the point view of life and love of Japanese people.
Since there are rarely any research done for Tanka it will be worth studying it regarding classroom activities. However the assignment for further study remain as the research of finding out the differences of feelings among common age students between Korean and Japanese after enjoying the particular subject of a Tanka.
Last but not the least, after the real classroom activities insufficient factors will be monitored according to the survey result of students' satisfaction, interest and participation of the class.

단가를 감상하고 내재된 정서를 발견하여 이야기 해 보는 활동을 통해 먼저 사고력의 발달, 자신의 의견을 논리적으로 표현하는 능력, 창의력의 향상을 기대할 수 있고, 단가 속에 담겨진 일본인의 내면세계도 간접적으로 체험해 볼 수 있다. 그리고 감상하는 가운데 단가 속에 나오는 단어나 문형의 쓰임을 경험하고, 반복적으로 보고, 듣는 활동을 통해 자연스럽게 기억되어, 일본어의 언어적인 기능 향상 면에서도 효과를 볼 수가 있다.
시를 교실활동에 접목을 시키는 것이 언어·비언어적인 기능면에서 이점이 있으리라 생각하지만, 시는 또한 짧은 문장 속에 정서와 사상이 내포되어 있고, 더 세부적으로는 시어 하나에도 감정이 숨 쉬고 있어, 그 뜻을 이해하기에 어려운 면이 있다. 더구나 외래어로 된 시를 배우면서 이문화의 감정을 느끼기란 부담이 될 수도 있다. 따라서 시를 통한 이러한 교육의 어려운 점을 보완하고자 다와라마치의 단가를 선정하게 되었다.
다와라마치 단가의 특징을 짧게 이야기한다면 구어체의 시, 일기 같이 감정의 직접적인 표현, 방식은 다르지만 세상 그 어느 다른 문화 속에서도 존재하는 사랑에 대한 감정을 노래했다는 것이다. 전통 단가 같이 어려운 고어나 문어문법을 거의 사용하지 않고, 누구나 공감할 수 있는 주제를 가지고, 현대 구어체를 통해, 직접적인 표현으로 쉽게 독자에게 다가서고 있는 것이다. 다와라마치의 단가를 활용한 교육은 문장을 활용한 수업을 통해 암기에 도움을 주며, 사랑과 이별에 대한 심리묘사로 학습자들의 관심을 불러일으킬 수가 있다. 또한 그것으로 끝나는 것이 아니라, 구어체와 외래어의 사용 등 현실성 있게 신세대들의 감각을 살려 표현함으로서 일본에서 쓰는 회화의 표현 그대로를 체험할 수도 있다. 즉, 단가를 감상하고, 각자의 의견을 나눠보는 중에 세부적인 단어나 문형을 자연스럽게 습득하게 되고, 교과서에서는 접해볼 수 없는 실생활 문화를 경험하게 되는 것이다.
본 논문의 내용 구성은 국어과, 영어과, 일본어과에서 현재까지 진행되어 온 시 감상 교육에 대한 선행 연구를 먼저 살펴보았다. 그 다음 단가의 발전 역사와 함께 현재 단가의 위치에 대해 생각해보는 일본인과 단가이야기, 본 논문에서 구체적으로 다룰 다와라마치 단가의 특징에 대해 구체적으로 알아보았다. 이어 다와라마치의 단가를 활용한 수업의 전반적인 개요에서는 수업의 대상과 단가 작품을 선정하고, 기대되는 교육적 효과와 반면에 또 나타날 수 있는 역기능에 대해 살펴보고 그 보완점을 모색하였다.
본격적인 수업 연구에 있어서는 다와라마치의 단가를 대학교 일본어 수업에서 언어·비언어적 기능별로 활용할 수 있는 방안을 연구하여, 언어적 기능에서는 어휘와 문법을 중심으로, 비언어적 기능에서는 다와라마치의 단가에서 나타나는 일본인의 사랑과 일상이라는 주제를 중심으로 감상을 통한 수업의 실제를 제시하였다.
단가에 대한 교실활동의 연구가 그동안 이루어지지 않고 있었던 만큼, 앞으로 더 많은 연구의 가치가 있으리라 본다. 본 논문에서는 아쉽게 다루지 못했던 일본인과 한국인의 또래 학생들의 가치관 속에서 어떠한 공통점과 차이점을 나타내고 있는지 특정 주제의 단가에 대해 서로 이야기를 나눠 조사해 보는 연구를 과제로 남겨둔다. 또한 본 고에서 다룬 교실활동을 실제로 해보고 난 후, 학습자들의 만족도와 흥미도, 수업의 참여도 등을 설문조사하여 미흡했던 점을 보완시켜 나가야 할 것을 제언하고자 한다.
