The indirect quotative expression is used frequently in the life, which is also indispensable educational content for the Korean education. However, in the Korean teaching materials, there exist some insufficient aspects about the practical meaning functions of the indirect quotative expression. If Korean learners could master the colloquial language used in real situation, that will be helpful in the daily life. So the reality of indirect quotative expression becomes the subject of this research. In this article, analysis is proceed basing on the meaning function of the indirect quotative expression which always appears in the Korean drama script and Korean teaching materials. Moreover, for the existing Korean teaching materials, what should be compensated to the instructive content of indirect quotative expression is also explored.
In order to distinguish practical methods of the indirect quotative expression appeared in the Korean drama script, the definition and the meaning function of the indirect quotative expression is examined primarily. Based on these, the syntactic feature of the Korean indirect quotative expression is disputed. In this research, quotation is defined as delivery of words and thinking, not only from ourselves but also the other people.
Korean teaching materials, which have been published as 6 level materials, 4 of them were chosen for examining the actual teaching condition of the indirect quotative expression. In the Korean teaching materials, that how the indirect quotative expression was deal with and what kind of meaning function was mentioned is analyzed in details. In the real life, how the Korean native speakers use indirect quotative expression and what kind of the meaning function was used, in order to find out them, the indirect quotative impression have similar structure with the real conversation situation, which appeared in the Korean drama scripts, was analyzed. Through these analysis, the real situation is uncovered: in the existing Korean teaching materials, the restrictive meaning function of indirect quotative expression, which indicates information delivery, was contained; by contrast, the meaning function ,such as “showing complains”, was not mentioned; and the conversational situation seems to be a little realistic.
In this article, certain teaching contents, compensating to the educational content of indirect quotative expression handled in the existing Korean teaching materials, was suggested. Based on the standpoint that indirect quotative expression is to convey the words and thinking of ourselves or the others, as a Korean learner, in terms of the meaning function of indirect quotative expression, besides “information delivery” and “situation confirming”, the meaning function “showing complain” should be kept in mind and added to the Korean teaching materials ; and, the examples, with little practicality, on indirect quotative expression should be handled with in the Korean teaching materials. All of above is the teaching content suggested for the Korean indirect quotative expression in this article. According to the language lesson step model, basing on the main content of this research, practical lesson model should be conducted with focusing on “showing complains”, the meaning function of indirect quotative expression. This research will be helpful and meaningful to compensate the educational content about indirect quotative expression mentioned in the Korean teaching materials.

간접 인용 표현은 사람들이 자주 사용하는 표현으로 한국어 교육에서 필수적으로 다루어야 할 항목이다. 그러나 한국어 교재에서 다루고 있는 간접 인용 표현의 실제적인 의미 기능에서는 아쉬운 점이 많다. 한국어 학습자가 실제적인 상황에서 쓰는 구어 표현을 익히면 실생활에서 유용하게 쓸 수 있으므로 간접 인용 표현의 실제성을 중심으로 연구하고자 하였다. 이는 한국어 교재와 한국 드라마 대본에서 나타난 간접 인용 표현의 의미 기능 바탕으로 분석하였다. 그리고 현행 한국어 교재에 제시된 간접 인용 표현의 교수 내용에 보충되어야 할 부분이 무엇인지를 논의하였다.
먼저 드라마 대본에서 간접 인용 표현의 활용 방식을 판단하기 위해 인용 표현의 개념을 살펴보았고 간접 인용 표현의 의미 기능을 알아보았다. 이를 바탕으로 한국어 간접 인용 표현의 통사적 특징에 대한 논의를 전개하였다. 본 연구에서는 인용을 자신이나 타인의 말뿐만 아니라 ‘생각’까지 전하는 것이라고 정의하여 살펴보았다.
현재 간접 인용 표현 교육 실태를 살펴보기 위하여 한국어 교재 중에 6등급의 숙달도 단계에 따라 발간된 4개 교재를 선택하였다. 한국어 교재에서는 간접 인용 표현을 어떻게 다루고 있는지, 어떤 의미 기능을 제시하고 있는지를 자세히 분석하였다. 실제 생활에서 한국어 모국어 화자가 간접 인용 표현을 어떻게 사용하고 어떤 의미 기능으로 활용하고 있는지를 알기 위해 실제 담화상활과 유사한 구조를 갖는 한국 드라마 대본에 나타난 간접 인용 표현을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 한국어 교재에서 간접 인용 표현의 제한된 의미 기능‘정보를 전달하기’를 담고 있다는 사실과 한국어 교육 내용으로서 학습자가 반드시 알아야할 ‘불만, 불평을 드러내기’등의 의미 기능을 다루지 않는 다는 점 그리고 실제성이 떨어지는 담화 상황 제시 등을 문제점으로 짚었다.
본 연구에서는 현행 한국어 교재에 다루고 있는 간접 인용 표현 내용을 보완하는 간접 인용 표현 교육 내용을 제안해 보았다. 간접 인용 표현은 자신이나 타인의 말을 전달할 뿐만 아니라 생각까지 전한다는 주장을 바탕으로 한국어 학습자로서 간접 인용 표현의 ‘정보를 전달하기’, ‘상황을 확인하기’의미 기능뿐만 아니라 반드시 알아야 할 ‘불만을 드러내기’의 의미 기능을 한국어 교재에서 다루어야 할 내용을 추가하였다. 뿐만 아니라 간접 인용 표현의 실제성이 담긴 예문을 교재에 수록할 것을 제안하였다. 이와 같은 내용은 본 연구에서 제안한 한국어 간접 인용 표현의 교육 내용이다. 이를 바탕으로 언어 수업 단계 모형에 따라 간접 인용 표현의 ‘불만을 드러내기’ 의미 기능을 중심으로 실제 수업 모형을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 한국어 교재에 제시된 간접 인용 표현의 교육 내용에 대한 보완점을 제시했다는 데 의의가 있다.
