과거에는 한국어를 배우는 대부분의 외국인 학습자들이 의사소통을 목적으로 하는 일반목적 학습자가 대부분이었지만 최근에는 국내 대학 진학을 목적으로 하는 학문목적 한국어 학습자 수가 급격히 증가하였다. 이러한 추세에 맞추어 최근에는 학문목적 한국어 교육에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다.
국내 대학 진학과 학위 취득을 목적으로 한국어를 배우는 학문목적 한국어 학습자들은 논문과 보고서 작성, 전공 서적 탐독 및 분석 능력을 함께 갖추어야 하기 때문에 기본적인 의사소통 능력을 향상시켜주는 일반목적 한국어교육과는 차별화된 언어 교육이 요구된다. 따라서 최근에는 학습자들이 목적을 달성할 수 있도록 하기 위해 각 대학에서 학문목적 한국어 과정을 개설하는 등의 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이에 대한 방안 가운데 하나로 제시되고 있는 것이 바로 토론 수업이다. 최근 한국어교육계에서도 외국인 학습자를 대상으로 하는 토론 수업 모형에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있지만 아직 한국어 토론 교재에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않고 있는 상태이다.
토론은 학습자들의 말하기, 듣기, 쓰기, 읽기 능력 등의 언어 능력뿐만 아니라, 비판적 사고와 지식 종합 능력 등을 함께 기를 수 있는 복합적인 교육 방법으로, 많은 연구에서 토론의 교육적 효과에 대해 밝히고 있다. 특히 대학 수업에서 요구되는 지적 능력을 필요로 하는 학문목적 한국어 학습자에게 토론 수업은 많은 도움을 줄 수 있다. 현재 일부 한국어 교재에 토론 활동이 제시되어 있어 학습자들이 한국어 토론 수업을 접할 기회가 있지만 교재 내 토론 활동의 비중이 적고 구성이 체계적이지 못해 토론에 대해 충분히 경험할 수 있는 환경이 갖추어져 있지 않다.
이에 본 연구에서는 전문적인 한국어 토론 교재의 필요성을 제고하고, 학습자들의 토론 능력 향상을 위한 방안으로서 토론 교재 개발 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 체계적으로 구성된 한국어 토론 교재를 통해 학습자들은 토론의 규칙과 표현을 익히고, 자료 분석 능력과 비판력을 향상시킬 기회를 제공받을 수 있다.
제2장에서는 본 연구의 대상인 학문목적 한국어 학습자의 현황을 살펴보고 토론의 개념과 유형 및 교육적인 효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서 활용할 토론의 개념을 정의하였다.
제3장에서는 현재 사용 중인 한국어 교재에 제시된 토론 활동을 분석하여 장단점과 문제점을 파악하였고 학문목적 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 토론 교재에 대한 학습자들의 요구를 조사하였다.
제4장에서는 교재 분석과 학습자들의 요구 조사를 토대로 한국어 토론 교재의 목표와 원리를 설정하고, 교재의 교수요목과 단원 모형을 구성하였다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 토론 교재의 실제를 제시하였다.
본고에서 연구한 한국어 토론 교재는 비록 토론 교재를 실제 수업에 적용해보지는 못했다는 한계를 지니고 있지만 아직 한국어 토론 교재가 개발되지 않은 상태에서 학문목적 한국어 학습자에게 도움을 줄 수 있는 방안으로서 한국어 토론 교재의 원리와 실제를 제시하였다는 데에 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

so there are a lot of studies for Korean education as a academy purpose Korean learners as a academy purpose do these academy activities - their thesis , writing s, reading major books, presentation and debate, etc.
So they need not for a communication but a different language education that is ‘debate education’ there has been a lot of studies about a debate class model in the recently. but there are few studies about a debate material. there are also no debate material for Korean learners as a academy purpose.
Debate is very effective activity for the learner because of improving data analysis ability, argumentation ability, critical thinking ability as well as improving language proficiency. But the learners who go up to the university are not provided like this opportunity, because debate material is absent.
This study analyzed the debate activity which is suggested in the existing Korean materials and suggested the theory and practice of developing materials based on the demand survey about the debate materials.
This study has a limit that this study didn't have a practical class which is suggested in this study, but this study is meaningful to develop debate materials for learners.
