As the society develops and changes, new words were made constantly. The study of new words will not only make the communication effective, but also make the social and cultural phenomenon in Korea understandable. The purpose of this study is to reveal the standard of the basic new words for studying with the learners beyond the intermediate level as subjects and to study advisable teaching and learning methods.
First of all, in chapter two, the standard of the basic new words for studying was set up into six types for the vocabulary selection and the new words were divided according to the learning levels. Firstly, the study confirmed if the new words beginning with ‘ㄱ’ in the Naver Korean Dictionary were used after January 1st, 2012. Secondly, the frequency of use was figured out. Based on this, the teaching items of new words were established. Thirdly, according to the possibility of use and the degree of intimacy, the new words for studying were selected. Fourthly, the new words in the fields like society, economy, politics, traffic/communication and sports/entertainment were also included according to the need of the learners. Finally, according to typical word-formation patterns, the new words were analyzed. The final list of the new words for studying was made according to six types of selection standard. In addition, according to the learners ’level, the new words were divided into intermediate and advanced level.
In chapter three, teaching methods of the selected new words were explored. The teaching method which makes use of the synonyms with the same patterns and the Chinese character affixes were implemented for the intermediate learners, while the vocabulary teaching method according to the word-formation patterns and the teaching method according to the media were mainly presented to the advanced learners.
In this study, according to the range which is different from the existing new words collection, vocabulary was collected with the new words which are commonly used in the internet dictionaries as subjects. Moreover, after the selection standard was divided into 6 types, the new words for studying were organized and the teaching and learning methods were found out. However, because the vocabulary was collected with only a part of the new words beginning with as subjects, it is necessary to continue the remaining parts consistently. It is hoped that this study can contribute to the new words education for the learners who are learning Korean as a foreign language.

사회의 발전과 변화에 따라 신어가 끊임없이 생산되고 있다. 신어를 연구함으로써 효과적인 의사소통을 이룰 뿐만 아니라 한국 사회와 문화 양상도 이해할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 중국인 중급 이상의 학습자를 대상으로 신어의 학습용 기본 어휘 기준을 밝히고 바람직한 교육·학습 방안을 연구하는 것이다.
먼저, 제2장에서는 어휘 선정 작업을 위해 신어 학습용 기본어휘 기준을 6가지로 설정하였고 단계별로 신어를 나누었다. 먼저 네이버 국어사전에 있는 신어 ‘ㄱ’로 시작하는 단어만을 가지고 2012년 1월 1일 이후 사용 여부를 확인하였다. 두 번째는 사용빈도에 대해 알아보고 이를 바탕으로 학습용 신어 교육 항목을 설정하였다, 세 번째는 이용 가능성 및 친숙도에 따라 학습용 신어에 해당한 신어를 선정한 것이다. 네 번째는 학습자의 필요성에 따라 사회, 경제, 정치, 교통/통신, 운동/오락 등의 영역에 있는 신어를 포함시켰다. 다섯 번째는 한국 사회와 관련성이 있는 신어를 학습용 신어에 포함시켰다. 마지막으로는 대표적인 조어방식에 따라 신어를 분석하였다. 이 6가지 선정 기준에 따라 신어의 최종 학습용 어휘 목록을 만들어 냈다. 또한 이 신어들을 단계에 따라 중·고급 학습자로 나누었다.
제3장에서는 선정된 신어에 대한 교육 방법을 탐색하고자 하였다. 한·중 동형동의어나 한자 접사를 이용한 교육 방법은 주로 중급 학습자에게 실시하였고 조어 방식에 따른 어휘 교육 방법과 매체에 따른 어휘 교육 방법은 주로 고급 학습자에게 제시하였다.
본 연구는 기존의 신어 자료집과는 다른 범위, 즉 흔히 사용하고 있는 인터넷 사전에 있는 신어를 대상으로 수집하였다. 또는 선정 기준을 6가지로 설정해서 학습용 신어를 정리하여 교수·학습 방안을 모색하였다. 그러나 네이버 사전에서 ‘ㄱ’으로 시작된 신어 일부만 자료로 수집하였기 때문에 앞으로 남은 부분에 대해 꾸준히 작업할 필요가 있다고 생각하며, 본 연구를 시작으로 하여 앞으로 한국어를 외국어로 배우는 학습자들의 신어 교육에 미력하나마 도움이 될 수 있기를 바란다.
