A Study on the Teaching Method Through Korean Children’s Song
This study is aimed at providing the list of Korean children’s song, which is proper to teach marriage migrant women, and finding a teaching method
effectively with using the list. Also, it has a purpose to develop learners’Korean fluency, and to help the education of their children and emotional development.
In the first chapter, it was identified the necessity and purpose of the study, and examined advanced research about the teaching method using songs or children’s song for the marriage migrant women in Korean education field. As a result, it was found that there are many research about the teaching method using Korean songs or children’s song, however, most of the research were limited; using songs with part of the vocabulary or
grammar which was only taught in the Korean class. Therefore, it needs to find a teaching method to have a class with mothers and their children together.
In the second chapter, it was inspected that the value of the specialties of the children’s song and the education. In addition to this, it is examined the significance of the education using the children’s song for the marriage migrant women, in terms of the language, literature and emotion, understanding of culture, comparing to their own culture, and the education of their children.
In the third chapter, it was selected the children’s song for the marriage migrant women through analyzing creative children’s song, traditional children’s song, and foreign children’s song, then it was cataloged 122 songs for the marriage migrant women of the elementary level. Furthermore, it was chosen 22 songs as ‘Confirmed Children’s Song for the Elementary Level,’ and 52 songs as ‘Available Children’s Song for the Elementary Level,’according to the grammar and vocabulary level, and the frequency of the grammar and vocabulary in the lyrics.
In the fourth chapter, it was designed ‘Special Korean Program Learning through Children’s Song,’ and it suggested the syllabi for the marriage migrant woman of the elementary level, for the marriage migrant women of
the elementary level and their children(age of 2-3), for the marriage migrant women of the elementary and intermediate level and their children(age of 4-6).
In the fifth chapter, it was applied teaching method to learn Korean through children’s song, and offered the teaching plan with <Twinkle Twinkle Little Star> for the marriage migrant women of the elementary level and their children(age 2-3).
In the sixth chapter, it was summarized previous chapters and addressed the significance of the study, furthermore, it was suggested contents for the follow-up study.
This study is meaningful that it suggested Korean education program learning through children’s song, which is able to apply to the spot of Korean education, therefore it can help not only to develop Korean fluency for the marriage migrant women of the elementary level, but also to communicate and be interactive with their children. In addition to this, it can be expected to suggest new teaching method using children’s song, in the case of developing Korean education text book with learning through children’s song in the future.
Though there is a weakness in the study, because I didn’t have a chance to apply the teaching method to learners directly. It can be said that this is a limit of the study, but it can be left for the follow-up study.

동요를 활용한 한국어 교육방안 연구 : 여성결혼이민자를 중심으로
본 연구는 여성결혼이민자의 한국어 교육에 적합한 동요 목록을 제공하며 이를 효과적으로 활용하는 방안을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 또한 동요를 활용한 교육방안이 학습자들의 한국어 실력 향상과 더불어 자녀의 교육과 정서발달에도 도움이 되고자 한다.
1장에서는 연구의 필요성 및 목적을 밝히고 한국어 교육에서의 노래 및 동요 활용 교육과 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 노래 및 동요 활용 교육에 대한 선행연구를 검토하였다. 그 결과 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 노래 및 동요 활용 교육에 대한 연구는 많지만 실제 한국어 수업 시간에 배운 일부 어휘나 문법이 수록된 노래로 한정시키는 경우가 대부분이고, 엄마와 자녀가 함께 수업하는 방안이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
2장에서는 동요의 특성 및 교육적 가치를 살펴보고, 여성결혼이민자를 위한 동요 활용 교육이 갖는 의의를 언어적 측면과 문학 및 정서적 측면, 문화이해 및 자국문화비교적 측면과 자녀교육적 측면으로 바라보았다.
3장에서는 여성결혼이민자를 위한 동요 목록을 선정하였는데 한국인이 즐겨부르는 창작동요와 전래동요 및 외국동요를 분석하여 초급 여성결혼이민자를 위한 동요 122곡을 목록화하였고, 가사의 문법과 어휘의 등급 및 가사의 문법과 어휘의 빈도수에 따라 ‘초급 확정 동요’ 22곡과 ‘초급 가능 동요’ 52곡을 선정하였다.
4장에서는 ‘동요를 활용한 한국어 교육 특별 프로그램’을 설계하여 초급 여성결혼이민자를 위한 수업과 초급 여성결혼이민자와 자녀(2∼3세 아동)를 위한 수업, 초 · 중급 여성결혼이민자와 자녀(4∼6세 아동)를 위한 수업의 교수요목을 제시하였다.
5장에서는 동요를 활용한 한국어 교육 방안을 적용하여 초급 여성결혼이민자와 2∼3세 자녀를 대상으로 동요 <작은 별>의 수업 안을 제시하였고, 6장에서는 앞서 살펴 본 내용들을 요약하여 본 연구의 의의를 밝히고 더 나아가 후속 연구되어야 할 내용들을 정리하였다.
본 연구는 실제 한국어 교육 현장에서 적용 가능한 <동요를 활용한 한국어교육 프로그램>을 제시하여 초급 여성결혼이민자의 한국어 실력 향상뿐만 아니라 자녀도 부모와 한국어 동요를 부르며 의사소통 및 상호작용을 할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 앞으로 동요를 활용한 한국어 관련 교재가 개발될 경우 동요 활용 교육 방안에 새롭게 시사하는 점도 있을 것이다.
하지만 동요를 활용한 한국어 교육 특별프로그램에 대한 수업 모형을 학습자에게 직접 적용하지 못한 아쉬움이 남는다. 이는 본 연구의 한계로 볼 수 있으며, 추후 연구과제로 남겨두는 바이다.
