The main objective of this study is to develop the application for the mobile gadgets, such as smart phones, PDA and tablet PC, which provide the users with more diverse experience in learning Hangeul(Korean alphabet). The mobile application for this study was designed and developed to offer more efficient learning opportunities to the learners, based on the main features of the widely and currently used mobile gadgets: Outstanding accessibility, portability and convenience.
In order to accomplish this objective, the researcher set the subject and the research methods in chapter 1, according to the necessity and the purposes of this study. Also, the directions for the research was presented by analyzing the preceeding research related to this study here. In chapter 2, the literature reviews on learning through the mobile devices and learning and teaching the Korean alphabet were throughly illustrated in accordance with the research methods and objectives, which were described in the previous chapter.
In chapter 3, the current state and the types of mobile-based applications for learning Korean were examined as the basic investigation to seek the way of utilizing the mobile-based instruction on Korean alphabet. The results from this investigation were analyzed in terms of the contents and the techniques, which became the basic data of developing the mobile application for this study.
In chapter 4, the researcher drew the principles and the methods of the application design for learning Korean alphabet, based on the theoretical backgrounds and the analysis on the currently developed mobile applications. In addition, the researcher designed the model lessons for the mobile-based Korean alphabet learning to be incarnated in class.
Chapter 5 was to summarize the results of this study. In addition to this, as identifying the educational implication and the limit from the study results, the researcher suggested the variety of tasks for the research and the development with the constantly changing media of instruction in Korean language education field.

이 연구는 점차 보급이 확산되고 있는 스마트폰, PDA, 태블릿PC와 같은 모바일 기기를 이용한 한글 자모 교육 방안을 찾는 데 그 목적이 있다. 뛰어난 접근성, 이동성, 그리고 편이성을 제공하는 모바일 기기의 특징을 바탕으로 보다 효율적인 한글 자모를 학습할 수 있도록 애플리케이션을 설계하고 이를 구현해 보고자 하였다.
이를 위해 1장에서는 연구의 필요성과 목적을 바탕으로 연구대상 및 방법을 설정하고, 관련 선행연구를 분석함으로써 연구의 방향을 분명히 제시하였다. 또한 2장에서는 설정한 연구 방법과 목적에 따라 모바일 학습과 한글 자모 교육에 대한 이론에 대해 폭넓게 검토하고자 하였다.
3장에서는 한글 자모 교육의 모바일 활용 방안을 모색하기 위한 기초 조사로써 한국어 학습용 모바일 애플리케이션의 현황과 유형을 살펴보고 내용적인 측면과 기술적인 측면, 실용적 측면으로 나누어 분석하여 애플리케이션 개발을 위한 기초 자료로 삼았다.
4장에서는 앞선 이론적 토대와 애플리케이션 분석 결과를 바탕으로 한글 자모 학습용 애플리케이션의 설계 원리 및 방법을 도출하였다. 그리고 모바일 기반의 한글 자모 학습 단원의 모형을 설계한 후 구현하였다.
5장에서는 이 연구를 요약․정리하고 연구의 의의와 한계를 밝히면서 교육 매체의 변화에 따른 한국어교육 콘텐츠의 다양한 연구․개발을 위한 과제를 제안하였다.
