사를 위한 한국어 문화 교육에 관한 연구이다. 원어민 교사를 위한 한국어 문화 교육이 왜 필요하며 이들을 위한 한국어 문화 교육은 어떤 방향이 되어야 할지를 밝히고자 했다.
이를 위하여 질적 연구방법을 선택하여 5명의 원어민 교사를 대상으로 소집단 심층면담, 문서 자료와 보고서를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 전사, 주제별 약호화와 적용, 분류의 단계를 거치는 일반적 절차에 의해 분석했다. 이 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 이들은 한국의 동료, 학생들과 언어장벽을 허물고 좋은 관계를 유지하며 정서적으로 안정되어서 영어능력을 향상시켜야 한다.
둘째, 이들은 한국을 떠나면 본국이나 제3국에서 자신의 한국생활 경험과 문화이해를 바탕으로 한국어와 문화를 전파할 강한 잠재력을 가지고 있다.
이들은 한국 학교에서 근무하는 교사이다. 이들의 근무 현장과 상황 그리고 관심은 일반 학습자와는 다르므로 이들을 위한 한국어 문화 교육은 이들의 특성이 고려되어야 한다.
이들의 특성을 고려한 한국어 문화 교육의 방향은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 이들을 위한 한국어 문화 교육의 학습 내용과 방법은 한국과 영어권 문화의 문화 간 비교 관점으로 제시되어야 한다.
둘째, 이들은 교류 한국인들의 언어, 비언어적 행동, 사고에 영향을 미치는 한국의 일상생활 문화를 이해할 필요가 있다. 그러므로 한국어를 배우면서 한국의 일상생활 문화를 이해할 수 있는 한국어문화 교육이 중요하다.
셋째, 이들의 한국어 문화의 잠재력을 생각하면 한국의 좋은 친구가 되어 한국의 협조자가 되어야한다. 그러기 위해서는 한국의 역사, 전통문화 등 성취문화 교육도 필요하다.
넷째, 이들은 한국의 문화에 관심이 많고 지적 호기심과 개성이 강하므로 한국어와 문화 교육에는 이들의 관심과 요구, 취향을 고려할 필요가 있다.
이 연구는 일정한 지역의 5명의 원어민 교사를 대상으로 연구자의 개인적 해석을 통해 밝혀진 것으로 일반화를 위한 후속연구가 이루어져야 한다.

This study is based on the Teaching Korean Language and the Culture for the native English speaking assistant teachers whose numbers are increasing sharply for stimulating Korean students' communicative skills in English in recent years. This study was concerned about the reasons why they need to be educated Korean Language and the Culture and about the effective approaches for them.
On this purpose the qualitative study was implemented and collected the data by recorded documents, researches, their stories and mainly the small group in-depth interview of five native teachers. The data were analyzed by transcription, coding of the different themes, classification of the themes.
The reasons why they need to be educated Korean Language and the Culture is as following;
First, they should improve the Korean students' English ability in settled Korean life while breaking language barrier to make good relationship with their Korean coworkers and their students at work.
Second, they have the powerful potential to spread Korean Language and the Culture based upon their Korean life to their countries and the third countries after leaving Korea.
They are teachers working at school, so their circumstances of working place and interests are different from general Korean learners. Thus teaching Korean Language and the Culture for them should be considered their characteristics.
The teaching Korean Language and the Culture for them considered their characteristics as Korean learners are the followings;
First, the contents and the ways for them are needed to be distinguished in the point of the view of cross culture between the two of English and Korea speaking.
Second, They need to know the everyday life Korean culture to understand their students' behavior included verbal and nonverbal language and their thoughts based on Korean culture. We can see the everyday life culture in Korean Language we use everyday. So, learning Korean language would be a very good way to learn Korean culture.
Third, they need to learn the Korean accomplishment culture like Korean history, arts and so on as well as the everyday life culture because they can be good friends or supporters for Korea depending on how much they understand the Korean language and the Culture.
Fourth, most of the research has shown their mainly goal coming to Korea is to experience Korea culture, so their interests in Korean culture are great and they keep observation on Korean culture. They have intelligent curiosity and strong personality, therefore their interest, fondness and demand are needed to be considered for their learning Korean culture.
