오늘날 미술교육은 비평 교육과 작품 감상의 중요성이 강조되면서 감상활동도 표현활동 못지않게 중요히 다뤄지고 있다. 학생들이 빠르게 변화하고 있는 사회 환경에 능동적이고 창의적으... 오늘날 미술교육은 비평 교육과 작품 감상의 중요성이 강조되면서 감상활동도 표현활동 못지않게 중요히 다뤄지고 있다. 학생들이 빠르게 변화하고 있는 사회 환경에 능동적이고 창의적으로 대처할 수 있도록 올바른 미술교육을 통해 시각적인 안목을 길러주어야 한다. 또한 순수미술영역에서 더 나아가 생활 속에서 미술문화를 향유하고 발전시킬 수 있는 태도를 길러주어야 한다. 하지만 아직까지도 실제 수업현장에선 입시 중심 교육의 실기위주 수업방식이 답습되어지면서 많은 학생들의 흥미와 관심을 충분히 수용하지 못하고 있다. 앞으로의 미술교육은 단순히 실기능력을 올리는 것에 그치는 것이 아니라 학습자가 주변과의 소통을 통해 자신의 생활 속에서 미술을 접하고 문화 이해력을 길러 나아가 새로운 문화를 창조해 나갈 수 있는 능력을 기를 수 있도록 미술교육의 내용과 방법의 변화가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구자는 공공미술이 학생들의 일상생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있고, 참여와 소통을 목적으로 한다는 점에서 현시대 미술교육의 좋은 방향을 제시할 수 있다고 생각하였다. 이러한 생각을 바탕으로 본 논문에서는 공공미술을 주제로 하여 공공미술의 개념과 역할에 대해 정의하고 공공미술을 올바르게 감상할 수 있는 공공미술교육의 방향성을 모색하고자 한다. 다양한 공공미술 사례를 통해 공공미술을 감상하고 또 직접 체험해봄으로써 공공미술을 고찰하고, 이를 기반으로 공공미술을 활용한 교수학습지도안을 제시하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구는 1장 서론에서는 ‘연구의 목적 및 필요성과 연구 내용 및 방법’을 알아보고 ‘2장 공공미술의 이론적 고찰’에서는 먼저 공공미술에 대한 이론적 토대를 마련하기 위해 공공미술 개념의 전개와 역할을 살펴보았다. 그리고 공공미술을 유형별로 분류하고 대표적인 사례를 분석하여 교육내용으로서 가치가 있는 대상임을 확인하였다. 3장에서는 국내 및 해외 공공미술의 다양한 사례들을 살펴보았다. 4장에서는 이러한 이해를 바탕으로 공공미술을 활용한 구체적인 공공미술감상교육 수업지도안을 연구하였다. 이와 같이 본 연구에서는 공공미술을 통해 학생들이 일상생활 속에서 미적인 체험을 하고 사회문화적인 맥락 속에서 미술을 이해하고 풍부한 정서를 함양하여 미술을 생활화하여 삶의 질을 높일 수 있는 교육을 제시하고자 하였다. 따라서 향후 본 연구를 토대로 공공미술감상교육의 구체적인 프로그램 개발연구가 수행되어 공공미술 감상교육의 기반이 형성되길 기대한다.

We should make students develop their artistic judgment through proper education in order to let them actively and creatively acclimate themselves to changes in their social environment. In addition to the area of fine arts, we should allow students to adopt an attitude of enjoying and developing the culture of art in their daily lives. In practice, however, skill-oriented teaching methods continue to be followed, and these methods do not draw enough interest from many students. In the future of art education, there is a need to alter pedagogy in order to help learners gain access to art in everyday life through interaction with surroundings, so that students may develop a greater understanding of culture. Apart from building practical skills, students should also be able to cultivate an ability to create their own culture. Therefore, the researcher has considered that public art can be utilized as a mode of current art education, because it can be accessed in everyday life and it is rooted in participation and communication. Based on this idea, the thesis will seek to define the concept and role of public art, and will subsequently discuss the direction of public art education. By appreciating and experiencing various examples of public art, I will study public art. Based on my findings, a teaching guide utilizing public art will be presented. The research in Chapter 1, titled "Introduction," discusses the purpose and necessity of the research. Chapter 2, titled "Theoretical Study of Public Art," utilizes research to develop the concept and role of public art in order to provide the theoretical basis of public art. It is then found, after categorizing it and analyzing typical cases, that public art is a valuable mode of education. Chapter 3 examines a variety cases of domestic and foreign public art. Based on this understanding, I research a concrete teaching guide focused on public art appreciation education in Chapter 4. In this way, the research presents an education that can improve the quality of life of students through facilitation of aesthetic experiences in their daily through public art, understanding fine art, and eliciting strong emotional responses in socio-cultural contexts.
