본 논문은 생태건축의 의미를 바르게 이해하고 앞으로의 방향성을 찾기 위하여 ‘현대자연관의 관점에서 본 생태건축의 시사점’이란 주제 아래에서 연구를 진행하였다.
우선 2장에서는 ‘생태’의 의미를 바로 알기 위해 현대 자연관에 대해서 고찰하였다. 하이데거는 생태위기의 근본적인 원인이 되는 기존의 인간이 자연을 지배하는 자연관의 반성에서 출발하여 존재의 차원에서 인간과 자연을 동등한 위치에 있음을 밝혔다. 이후 심층생태론과 사회생태론, 펠릭스 가타리에 의해서 생태의 의미에 대한 본격적 논의가 시작되었다. 현대 자연관이기도 한 이들의 사상을 살펴본 결과 인간과 자연은 상호 의존적인 공생관계에 있다는 이념 아래에서 개인의 의식적 차원, 자연과 인간 사회와의 관계, 인간과 사회 그리고 자연의 유기적 관계 등의 다각적인 시각으로 생태위기의 원인에 대한 분석과 그 대안을 모색하였음을 알 수 있었다.
3장에서는 생태건축의 전개과정과 주요개념을 고찰함으로써, 현대 생태건축의 전반적인 모습에 대해 살펴보았다. 생태건축이란 개념은 1970년대에 등장하였으며, 처음에는 단순히 사용하는 에너지를 절약하는 건축물의 의미로 사용되었다. 90년대에 들어와 인간과 자연의 상호연관성, 공생의 관계 측면에서 ‘생태’라는 개념을 고찰하였으며, 건축의 차원에서 생태위기의 대안을 마련하기 위한 다각적인 개념들을 정립하였다. 이를 살펴본 결과 생태건축의 주요개념은 ① 장소성에 대한 고려, ② 생명 순환의 존중, ③생체모방, ④자연의 가시화, ⑤자원의 보존과 재생, ⑥인간에 대한 존중, 이 여섯 가지로 나눌 수 있었으며, 이를 고찰함으로써 생태건축의 전반적 모습에 대해 이해 수 있었다.
4장에서는 현대 자연관의 관점에서 생태건축의 주요개념을 살펴봄으로써 생태건축에 담긴 철학적 의미와 생태건축의 방향성과 의미에 대해 고찰하였다. 그 결과 생태건축의 주요개념은 현대 자연관과 많은 부분이 관련이 있으며, 장소성의 존중을 통한 다양성의 실현, 자연의 가시화를 통한 개인의 의식변화, 대안적 기술의 활용 등을 통하여 건축적 차원에서 생태위기를 극복하려는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 이와 같은 생태건축의 개념은 건축에서 쉽게 실현가능한 물리적 차원에 머물러 있는 경향이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 현대 자연관과 같이 인간 개인, 사회, 자연의 복합적이고 유기적인 관계를 바탕으로 짜임새 있는 방향성과 대안을 갖기에는 부족하였다. 그러나 건축은 물리적 속성 이외에도 인간의 삶과 문화를 담을 수 있는 공간을 가지고 있으며, 어떻게 설계되느냐에 따라서 그 지역 사회에 많은 영향을 줄 수 있다. 따라서 생태건축 역시 건축의 물리적 속성에 머무르는 것에서 더 나아가 인간의 삶, 문화 그리고 사회와 자연과의 관계 속에서 생태위기에 대한 건축적 대안을 모색할 필요가 있을 것이다.
본 논문은 현대 자연관의 관점에서 생태건축을 살펴봄으로써 생태건축이 갖는 철학적 의미와 앞으로의 방향성에 대해 고찰하였다. 이러한 시도는 물리적 속성에만 국한될 수 있는 생태건축을 형이상학적인 자연관의 관점에서 탐구하여 인간의 삶과 문화 그리고 사회와 자연의 관계로까지 그 영역을 확장할 수 있다는 생태건축의 방향성과 그 가능성에 대하여 제시하였음에 그 의미가 있을 것이다.

This study under the title “A study on the current state of the ecological architecture by considering from contemporary ideas of the Nature” had been carried out in order to search the meaning and the orientation of the ecological architecture.
At the first, the contemporary ideas of Nature are considered to understand the meaning of the ecology. Heidegger had investigated the equivalent position between human beings and the Nature in the aspect of the Being. He had regarded the fundamental cause of the ecological crises as the idea of the Nature which human beings have to charge of the Nature and reflected it. After him, the deep ecology, the social ecology and Felix Guattari had started to discuss the serious meaning of the ecology. Followed from their ideal of the symbiotic relationship of human beings and the Nature, the analysis and the solutions of the ecological crises could find out from the diverse view-sides as like the consciousness of each individual, and the interrelationship between human beings, the societies, and the Nature.
In sequence, by considering the major conceptions and the development process of the ecological architecture, the comprehensive features of the recent ecological architecture are figured out. In 1970’s, the concept of the ecological architecture had been appeared and used in the simple meaning of the building saving energy. Since 1990’s, the architecture had started to consider the concept of ecology as the symbiotic relationship between human beings and the Nature, and posit the multidirectional ideas for solving the ecological crises. Consequently, the major conceptions of the ecological architecture could be divided to the six points, ① the considering of the placeness, ② the respect for the life circulation, ③ the biomimicry, ④ the visualization of the Nature, ⑤ the conservation and the recycling of the resources, ⑥ the respect for human beings. Followed from those six points, the comprehensive features of the recent ecological architecture are figured out.
At last, the philosophical meaning and the orientation of the ecological architecture are considered by examining the major conceptions of the ecological architecture from contemporary ideas of the Nature. Accordingly, the major conceptions of the ecological architecture have relations with the contemporary ideas of the Nature, and the architecture would solve the ecological crises with the conscious shift of each individual, the realization of the multiplicity by respecting the placeness, the alternative technologies, and the visualization of the Nature. Nevertheless, the ecological architecture seems to remain on the physical state that is to realized easily. It is lack of the solutions and the alternatives on the synthetic relationship of individuals, societies, and the Nature in the contemporary ideas of the Nature. The architecture has not only the place for the physical, but also the place contained the culture and the life of human beings. Further more, the local communities are effected by the architectural designs. Hence, the ecological architecture needs to come out to the relations with the life of human beings, the culture, the societies, and the Nature, not with only being remained on the physical characteristics. Then, the ecological architecture would find the architectural solution for the ecological crises out.
Briefly, this study is to consider the philosophical meaning and the orientation of the ecological architecture from contemporary ideas of the Nature. This attempt to put the metaphysical views of the Nature into the ecological architecture makes its orientation and possibility to extent over the relations with the life of human beings, the culture, the societies, and the Nature from its physical characteristics.
