A study on the writing of Japanese Kana character in Korean language

Recently there are more and more signs in Japanese on the streets that attract consumers attention in various forms of Koreanization. As the number of Japanese tourists visiting Korea thanks to the hot wind of Korean Wave is constantly increasing, the streets are filled with a variety of wrong Koreanization as an effort to attract Japanese tourists. This may confuse the public’s language use and confuse Korean learners of Japanese in education and learning of Japanese.
Thus, this study was carried out aiming to correct this problem if any since a wrong Koreanization may deliver wrong vocabulary to Japanese tourists and cause Korean learner of Japanese keep using the wrong writing in learning Japanese. As for the method of research, an on-site actual condition survey on what errors occurred in Koreanizing Japanese Kana in the signs and menus in Korean actually used on the streets and an analysis of a survey carried out for learners majoring in Japanese were chosen. Based on the results of the actual condition survey, the causes of the misuses were analyzed, a direction was proposed as an inquiry for efficient education of the Koreanization of Japanese, and the proposal for that was presented so that they use right Koreanization.
This consists of six chapters: Chapter 1 described the purpose, subjects and methods of this and introduced preceding studies. Chapter 2 specified both countries’ orthographies to make a precise analysis based on the standards of Korea’s and Japan’s loanword orthographies. Chapter 3 analyzed the Koreanization of Japanese in actual signs and menus in Korea based on the results of an on-site actual condition survey in Myeongdone area, which was classified to ten items by four types of characters: Hirakana, Katakana, Kanji (Chinese characters) and mixed Koreanization of Japanese, and the causes of the diversity of misuses were analyzed. Chapter 4 selected the target words for survey based on the on-site actual condition survey and an actual condition survey was carried out for students at the Department of Japanese Language and Literature in S. University, and they were classified by the type of the characters, and the characteristics and misuse rate of the target words were examined, and the misuse types divided into 10 items like the actual condition survey in Myeongdong were analyzed. In addition, the causes of the misuses were examined by comparing the results of the two actual condition surveys. Chapter 5 made a few suggestions for the efficient education of the Koreanization of Japanese based on the results of the two actual condition surveys. Chapter 6 mentioned the points that could be found through the analysis of the on-site actual condition survey and the learners’ actual condition survey and the future tasks.
I hope that the suggestions of this study will be helpful for Japanese education and learning the Koreanization of Japanese in the future.

최근 거리의 간판을 보면 다양한 방법의 표기의 형태들로 소비자들의 시선을 자극하는 일본어 간판이 증가하였다. 한류열풍으로 인하여 한국을 방문하는 일본인 관광객이 끊임없이 늘고 있는 만큼 일본인 관광객을 유치하기 위한 노력으로 잘못된 표기들이 거리에 난무하고 있는 것이다. 이는 일반대중의 언어생활을 혼란스럽게 하고, 일본어를 학습하는 한국인 학습자들에게도 일본어교육과 학습에 있어 혼란을 일으킬 수 있다.
따라서 본 연구는 잘못된 표기로 인하여 일본인 관광객들에게 잘못된 어휘를 전달하고, 한국인 일본어 학습자들이 일본어를 학습하는 데에 있어 잘못된 표기를 계속해서 쓰는 결과를 초래할 수 있기에 이를 조금이라도 바로잡고자 하는 것을 목표로 행한 연구이다. 연구방법으로는 실제 거리에서 사용되고 있는 간판과 메뉴판의 한국어가 일본어 가나표기를 할 때 어떤 오류가 일어나고 있는지에 대한 현장 실태조사와 일본어를 전공하는 학습자를 대상으로 실시한 조사를 분석하는 방법을 택하였다. 실태조사의 결과를 토대로 오용의 원인을 분석하였고, 효율적인 일본어 표기 교육을 위한 일고찰로서 방향을 제시하며, 올바른 표기를 쓰도록 그 안을 제시하였다.
본 논문은 총 6장으로 구성되어 있다. 제1장에서는 본 논문의 연구목적, 연구대상 및 방법에 대해 서술하였고, 선행연구를 정리하였다. 제2장에서는 한․일 외래어 표기법의 기준에 의거하여 정밀한 분석을 행하기 위해서 양국의 표기법을 명기하였다. 제3장에서는 명동일대의 현장 실태조사 결과를 토대로 실제 한국의 간판과 메뉴판에 나타나는 한국어의 일본어표기를 분석하였는데 이를 히라가나, 가타카나, 한자, 일본어 혼용표기 4가지의 문자유형별로 분류하여 표기의 다양한 오류의 형태를 10가지 항목으로 나누어서 오용의 원인을 음운적인 측면과, 문자표기상의 측면으로 분석하였다. 제4장에서는 현장실태조사를 바탕으로 조사대상어를 선정하여 S대 일어일문학과 재학생을 대상으로 표기실태조사를 실시하여, 문자 유형별로 분류하고, 조사대상어에서 보여지는 특징과 오용률을 살펴보았고, 오용유형을 명동 현장 실태조사와 마찬가지로 10가지 항목으로 나누어 분석하였다. 그리고 두 실태조사 결과를 비교하여 오용의 원인을 살펴보았다. 제5장에서는 두 실태조사의 결과를 바탕으로 효율적인 일본어 표기교육을 위하여 몇 가지 제언을 하였다. 제6장에서는 현장실태조사와 학습자 실태조사 분석을 통해 알 수 있는 점, 앞으로의 과제 등에 대해 언급하였다.
본 연구의 제시가 향후 일본어 교육과 표기 학습에 있어서 도움이 되었으면 하는 바람이다.
