한국어를 공부하는 학습자에게 교재는 실제적인 의사소통 능력을 키우기 위해 실제 상황을 반영하고 있어야 한다. 주제 중심 통합 학습은 실제 생활에 관한 문제나 학습자의 흥미를 주제로 ... 한국어를 공부하는 학습자에게 교재는 실제적인 의사소통 능력을 키우기 위해 실제 상황을 반영하고 있어야 한다. 주제 중심 통합 학습은 실제 생활에 관한 문제나 학습자의 흥미를 주제로 경험을 통합하고 학습자의 주도적인 학습 활동을 실시하는 학습의 한 형태이다. 이를 한국어 교육에 반영하면 한국어는 활동을 위해 쓰이는 도구이며, 학습자는 활동들을 수행하면서 자연스럽게 한국어를 습득하게 되는 것이다. 학습자들은 무슨 활동을 하던 한국어를 사용하게 된다. 그러므로 학습자가 한국어를 더욱 흥미롭게 공부하는데 도움이 된다. 제1장에서는 연구의 목적을 밝히고 선행연구를 살펴본 후에 연구의 방법을 드러내 놓았다. 2장에서는 기존에 출판 되어 있는 한국어 교재들을 교재 개발의 원리를 바탕으로 하여 교재 전체의 내용과 단원 구성의 내용으로 나누어 분석한다. 그리고 분석한 내용을 비교하여 각 교재에 드러난 장점과 문제점을 찾아본다. 3장에서는 본 연구의 이론적 바탕이 되는 주제 중심 통합 학습 이론에 대해 살펴 본 후, 주제 중심 통합 학습을 반영한 한국어 교재는 어떠한지에 대해 알아보았다. 4장에서는 단원 구성 모형에 맞추어 실제 ‘교통’이라는 단원을 구성하고, 단원의 지도 방안까지 제시하여 주제 중심 통합 학습을 바탕으로 한 단원이 왜 이렇게 구성되고 교사와 학습자가 이 교재에서 한국어를 어떻게 공부해 나가야 하는지 그 방향을 제시해 주었다. 기존의 교재의 활동 부분이 문법의 활용에 머물러 있다면 주제 중심 통합 학습을 바탕으로 한 한국어 교재는 학습자의 경험과 흥미를 고려하여 영역을 통합한 활동을 기본으로 한다. 그러므로 학습자가 한국어를 공부 하는데 있어 지속적인 관심을 가지게 되고 실제적인 의사소통을 하는데도 도움이 된다.

A textbook for a student who studies Korean is required to reflect realities in order to improve ability for practical communication. Thematic Integrated Approach is one of the ways which combine experiences based on happenings in real life and interests of students and provides learning activities chosen by themselves. If we apply it to the teaching of Korean, the language can be a tool for activities and students can easily acquire Korean thru them. Whenever students are doing any activity, they must use Korean. It would help students, therefore, to learn Korean in A more interesting way. In Chapter.1, I introduce the goal of this research, review previous studies and provide research methods. In Chapter.2, I analyze both contents for the whole text and composition for each chapter separately with principles of published Korean text books. Furthermore, I suggest advantages and disadvantages of them with results of my analysis. In Chapter.3, I study Thematic Integrated Approach, which is the theoretical basis for this research and propose what the Korean text book which reflect it should be. In Chapter.4, following the Unit Composition Model, I propose one example unit called "Traffic" and a guide line for a teacher. This provides the way to help both teachers and students understand why the unit became organized with Thematic Integrated Approach and how they teach and study Korean with it. The text book based on Thematic Integrated Approach has a basic principle in which it focuses on students’ experiences and interests, compared to existing text books which include only the application of grammar.
