결혼이민자 여성들이 가정과 사회에서 새로운 문화로의 적응은 정신적 긴장과 두려움으로 작용하여 사회적응을 어렵게 하고 사회통합을 저해하는 심리적 위축의 요인으로 작용한다. 이에 우리사회의 구성원으로 당당한 삶을 영위하기 위한 여성 결혼이민자들의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 사회적 요인을 밝혀냄으로써 자아존중감 증진을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다.
이를 달성하기 위하여 첫째, 결혼이민자 여성의 일반적 특성에 따라 자아존중감은 차이를 알아보고 둘째, 결혼이민자 여성의 사회적 요인에 따라 자아존중감은 차이를 알아보았으며 셋째, 결혼이민자 여성의 사회적 요인이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향력을 알아보고자 하였다.
조사대상은 인천광역시에 거주하는 결혼이민자 여성을 대상으로 한국어, 영어, 중국어, 베트남어로 제작된 설문지를 사용하였다. 설문조사는 인천지역에 위치한 다문화지원센터(남구, 강화군, 계양구)를 중심으로 조사되었으며, 회수된 157부를 자료로 사용하였다.
조사결과 첫째, 결혼이민자 여성의 일반적 특성에 따라 자아존중감의 차이는 출신국가, 최종학력, 자녀수, 월수입에서 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 결혼이민자 여성의 사회적 요인에 따라 자아존중감의 차이는 친정용돈 송금여부, 취업여부와 의사결정, 본인과 남편직업 의사결정, 생활비관리 의사결정, 전반적인 재산관리 의사결정, 자녀양육 의사결정, 저축이나 보험가입 의사결정 등에서 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 결혼이민자 여성의 사회적 요인이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향은 통제변수 중 연령에서 자아존중감에 부(-)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사회적요인 중에서는 친정용돈 송금여부와 취업여부, 언어능력, 한국생활 적응, 결혼만족도가 자아존중감에 정(/)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
결과적으로 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 사회적 요인들의 상대적인 영향력을 살펴보면 결혼만족도가 가장 높은 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 다음으로는 취업여부, 친정용돈 송금, 언어능력, 한국생활적응 순으로 높은 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.

When female marriage immigrants are adapting to the new culture in their family and society, they are experiencing mental pressure and fear which is a factor of psychological withering that makes them hard to adapt to the society and block societal unification. The main goal for this research is to find out the societal factor and provide basic sources for enhancing their self esteem so that they can live a fair life as a part of our society.
To achieve this goal, firstly, we will examine the difference of self esteem of female marriage immigrants according to their general characteristics and secondly, examine the difference according to their societal factors and thirdly, find out how these societal factors effect their self esteem.
The research subjects were those female marriage immigrants who are living in Incheon and were given research questionnaire consisted with Korean, English, Chinese, and Vietnamese language. The scope of research were focused at Multi-cultural Support Center(Namgu, Kanghuagun, Gyeyanggu), which is located at Incheon, and used 157 collected copies as sources.
According to our research, the general characteristics that effected their self esteem were diversified in to their native country, final academic background, number of children and the monthly income. Secondly, the difference of self esteem according to their societal factors varied from sending allowance to their parents, whether they have decision making choice for getting their own job, husbands job, living expense, raising and education of children, overall property management and depositing money and joining insurance and so forth. Thirdly, finding out how these societal factors effect their self esteem showed that it had a negative influence(-) on age among the controllable variables. Among the societal factors, there were positive influence(/) according to whether they are sending allowance to their parents, have a job, linguistic ability, adaptation to Korea life and satisfaction of marriage.
Ultimately, examining the societal factors that effect their self esteem, research data shows that satisfaction of marriage had the most influence and followed by this were whether they have a job, whether they are sending allowance to their parents, linguistic ability, adaptation to Korea life.
