본 연구는 베트남 이주노동자들이 한국에서 생활하고 일하면서 필요한 가장 기본적인 의사소통을 위해 보다 한국어를 쉽게 배울 수 있는 방안 모색 차원에서 베트남 이주노동자를 위한 취업 전 한국어 교재 개발 방안을 그 목적으로 하고 있다.
한국어 교육의 발전과 더불어 한국어 학습자 집단이 다양해지면서 한국어를 배우는 목적 또한 다변화되고 있으나 이주노동자를 위한 직업 목적 한국어 교육에 관한 연구는 많이 부족한 실정이다.
한국어 사용이 미숙한 이주노동자들은 작업지시사항을 잘못 이해하여 생산성이 떨어지고 또한 사고의 위험조차 높게 나타나고 있다. 이러한 의사소통의 문제는 작업 수행뿐만 아니라 일상생활에서도 심각한 어려움을 초래하고 있다.
따라서 이 연구에서는 베트남 이주노동자의 취업 전 한국어 교육의 실태를 파악하고, 이주노동자와 그들의 직장 동료, 한국어 교사의 요구조사를 바탕으로 취업 전 한국어 교육에서 필요한 교수요목을 선정하여 단원 구성을 하였고 실제 단원 구성을 보여주었다.
1장에서는 연구의 목적을 밝히고 이 연구의 내용과 방법을 제시하였으며 이주노동자를 대상으로 한 선행연구와 그 밖에 직업 목적 한국어 교육 관련 연구를 아울러 검토하였다.
2장에서는 베트남 이주노동자의 취업 전 한국어 교육의 실태를 파악하기 위하여 취업 전 한국어 교육 기관의 실태, 취업 전 한국어 교육 교재의 실태, 한국어능력시험(Employment Permit System-Korean Language Test; EPS-KLT)을 분석하였다.
3장에서는 현재 한국에서 근무하고 있는 베트남 이주노동자, 한국인 직장 동료, 한국어 교사의 요구를 분석하여 교재에서 다루어야 할 실제적으로 필요한 주제와 내용을 선정하였다.
4장에서는 베트남 이주노동자를 위한 취업 전 한국어 교재의 단원 구성 및 개별 단원 구성을 제시하고 실제 한 단원의 예를 제시하였다. 또한 비전문적인 한국어 교사의 수업을 돕고 본 구성안의 실제를 보여주기 위해 교수․학습지도안을 첨부하였다.
5장에서는 연구의 결과를 요약하여 결론을 도출하고, 후속 연구에 대한 제언으로 본 연구를 마무리하였다.

The purpose of this study is directed toward how to develop a Korean teaching material for Vietnamese immigrant workers to be employed to learn Korean more easily so that they can make basic communication necessary for living and working in Korea. With the development of Korean education, groups of Korean learners are getting varied and the purpose of learning Korean is being diversified, but the truth is that there are few studies on Korean education for immigrant workers for the vocational purpose.
The immigrant workers who have a poor command of Korean are shown to be less productive because of misunderstanding working directions and to be very likely to have an accident. This communication problem causes serious difficulties in daily life as well as in performing jobs.
Therefore, this study has grasped the situation of Korean education for Vietnamese immigrant workers to be employed, selected the subjects necessary for Korean education before being employed on the basis of the survey of the demands of immigrant workers, their co-workers and Korean teachers, and presented the composition of actual units.
In chapter one, presented were the purpose, contents and methodology of the study and examined were the previous studies on immigrant workers and other studies related with Korean education for the vocational purpose.
In chapter two, an analysis was made of the situation of institutes of Korean education and Korean teaching materials before being employed and Employment Permit System-Korean Language Test(EPS-KLT), in order to understand the situation of the Korean education for Vietnamese immigrant workers to be employed.
In chapter three, selected were the subjects and contents that need to be dealt with in those materials after analyzing the demands of the Vietnamese immigrant workers living in Korea, their Korean co-workers and Korean teachers.
In chapter four, presented were the composition of the whole units of Korean teaching materials and that of each unit for the Vietnamese immigrant workers to be employed, and a unit for example. And a teaching and learning plan was attached in order to help non-professional Korean teachers with class and show what the plan really is.
Lastly, in chapter five, the results of the study were summarized, a conclusion was drawn, and recommendations were made for following studies.
