본 연구는 국어 교육의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 국어 어휘 지도의 실제적 방안에 관한 것이다. 국어 어휘 교육을 위해 놀이 학습을 통한 어휘 교육의 기본 원리. 놀이 학습을 통한 어휘 교육의 지도 방법, 국어 어휘 지도의 놀이 유형과 놀이 학습을 통한 교수-학습 모형으로 교육과정의 어휘 관련 내용을 중심으로 추출한 어휘 관련 요소에 중점을 두고 연구하였다.
본 연구에서는 연구 방법으로 놀이 학습을 적용하여 국어 어휘 지도의 실제적 방안을 선택하였다. 이 방법을 선택한 이유는 놀이는 어린이의 지적 발달에 있어서 가장 기본적인 활동이라고 정의한 피아제의 말처럼 놀이 학습은 어린이들에게 즐거움과 배움을 함께 가져다주는 매개체로써 국어 어휘의 정확한 의미를 파악하고 어휘들 간의 의미를 이해하며 새로운 어휘를 습득할 수 있는 기능을 갖추게 해 주기 때문이다.
연구자는 제7차 교육과정을 중심으로 국어 어휘 관련 내용을 추출하였다. 교육과정의 어휘 관련 내용을 중심으로 흉내 내는 말, 낱말의 뜻풀이, 어휘의 의미관계, 높임낱말, 시간을 나타내는 말, 표준어와 비표준어, 고유어와 외래어, 가리키는 낱말, 꾸며 주는 낱말로 어휘 요소를 범주화하여 제시하였다. 범주화한 어휘 관련 요소를 다시 전 학년 국어 교과서를 중심으로 분석하여 범주 내용에 맞게 다양한 관련 놀이를 선정 놀이 유형에 따른 어휘 지도의 교수-학습 과정을 통한 어휘력 신장 방안으로 제시하였다.
이 연구에서 제시한 방법들을 지속적으로 현장의 실제 교과 시간에 적용한 결과 어린이들의 어휘력이 양적, 질적으로 크게 향상되고 다른 영역의 능력도 신장 된 것을 알 수 있었다.
마지막으로 어휘력을 향상시키기 위하여 어린이들의 발달 정도에 맞는 어휘를 보다 체계적으로 분석하여 선정하고, 다양한 놀이 학습 자료를 개발 보급한다면 지도 효과는 매우 커지리라 기대된다.

This study is to introduce the real teaching methods for learning the meaning of vocabularies that means the most important aim of language education. This study is focused on not only the introducing teaching methods through the games for learning the meaning of vocabularies and the sorts of games, but also introducing the vocabularies that are necessary for the language-education curriculum that contains the principles of teaching guidance and the teaching-learning forms through games.
The research worker intends to translate this study into applying to letting primary school pupils learn the meaning of vocabularies through the games. The reason why this teaching methods is chosen is that, just as Piaget (psychologist for children) says that games are the basic activity for the children's mental development, the learning through the games gives pupils both pleasure and knowledge, making pupils understand the exact meaning of the vocabularies and the relationship between this words and that words, and giving chances to learn the meaning of new words.
The research worker gas selected the vocabularies from the text book originated from The Seventh Education Curriculum. these vocabularies are classified into the imitated words, the meaning of the new words, the words showing time, the standard language and dialects, the Korean language and foreign language, and the adjective word. The classified vocabularies are divided into every school year according to the Koran language text books, which would be intensified for the successful teaching methods through the games.
It has proved that the continual application of these teaching methods has made pupils understand so many new vocabularies both quantitatively. As a result, the pupils who have been taught 펴 these teaching methods have been better learners in Korean languages as well as other fields of subjects.
Lastly, if the vocabularies for the children according to the level of growth would be analysed, classified and selected systematically, if many kinds of the teaching methods for the children would be developed and supplied, the effectiveness of the teaching methods for learning the meaning of vocabularies through the games would be increased.
