The object of this study is to find out what relationships are shown between adult attachment and defensive defense mechanisms of college students. 200Students were surveyed for this purpose. The Adult Attachment Styles tructures used in this study were developed by Fraley, Waller and Brennan (2000)adapted into Korean by Sunghyun Kim(2004) and used Experiences Close Relationship Revised. Defence Mechanisms scale used in this study was developed by Bond, Garder, Christian and Sigal (1983) modified and completed by Sungho Cho(1999) and used the (Defense Style Questionnaire).
College life adaptation scale used in this study was produced by Baker and Siryk (1989) adapted into Korean and composed by the Student Counseling Center at Yonsei university and used the student adjustment to college Questionnaire. Analysis of the mediating effect about data though hierarchical rare analysis.
The results were as follows:
First, adult attachment anxiety was found to have positive correlation with maladaptive defensive defence mechanisms. In addition, the adult attachment anxiety was found to have negative correlation with college life adaptation.
Second, adult attachment avoidance was found to have positive correlation with maladaptive defensive defense mechanisms. In addition, the adult attachment avoidance was found to have negative correlation with college lifeadaptation.
Third, maladaptive defensive defence mechanisms formed part the relationship between adult attachment insecurity and college life adaptation. In addition, the maladaptive defensive defense formed part the relationship between adult attachment avoidance and college life adaptation.
This study is the study that shows the importance of adult attachment and maladaptive defensive defence mechanisms to help students in college life.

본 연구에서는 대학생의 성인애착과 방어기제가 대학생활 적응과 어떤 관계를 보이는지 알아보려 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생 200명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 성인애착 유형 척도는 Fraley, Waller와Brennan(2000)이 개발하고 김성현(2004)이 한국어로 번안하여 타당화한 친밀관계경험 척도(Experiences Close Relationship - Revised)를 사용하였다. 방어기제척도는 Bond, Garder, Christian 및 Sigal(1983)이 개발한 Defense Style Questionnaire를 조성호(1999)가 수정하여 완성한 한국판 방어유형 측정도구(Korea - Defense Style Questionnare)를 사용하였다. 대학생활적응척도는 Baker와 Siryk(1989)가 제작하고 연세대학교 학생상담소에서 번안하여 구성한 대학생활적응척도(Student Adjustment to College Questionnaire)를 사용 하였다. 자료에 대한 매개효과의 분석은 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 이루어졌다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 성인애착 불안은 부적응적 방어기제와 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 성인애착 불안은 대학생활 적응과 부적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 성인애착 회피는 부적응적 방어기제와 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 성인애착 회피는 대학생활적응과 부적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 성인애착 불안과 대학생활 적응과의 관계를 부적응적 방어기제가 분매개 하였다. 또한, 성인애착 회피와 대학생활 적응과의 관계도 부적응적 방어기제가 부분매개 하였다. 연구결과는 대학생들의 대학생활 적응을 돕기 위해 성인애착과 부적응적 방어기제의 중요함을 보여 주었다.
