본 연구는 태국 중·고등학교에서 제2외국어로서 한국어를 배우는 학습자를 대상으로 한국어 교육과정을 설계하는 것에 목적이 있다.
태국 중·고등학교에서의 한국어 교육은 태국의 기초 교육위원회에서 2007년 한국어를 제2외국어로 지정하면서 시작되었다. 2008년에는 태국 중·고등학교에서도 한국어 교육이 시작되었다. 2011년 한국어 교사 파견을 시작으로 학습자 수가 급격하게 증가하면서 2013년을 기준으로 74개 중·고등학교에서 약 2만 명의 학습자가 한국어를 배우고 있고 앞으로도 계속 증가할 것이다. 그럼에도 아직까지 태국 중·고등학교에서는 제대로 된 한국어 교재는 물론이고 한국어 교육 현실에 맞는 교육과정을 제대로 마련하지 못하고 있는 실정이다.
2012년 태국 교육부 ‘중등학교 교과과정위원회’에서 ‘한국어 교육과목의 목표와 주제 기본강좌 3년’을 정하였다. 하지만 태국 중·고등학교의 한국어 교수-학습 상황에 적용하기 어려운 점들이 있다. 이러한 점을 보완하고 요구 분석 결과를 바탕으로 하여 태국 중·고등학교의 한국어 교육과정 설계 방향을 정하였다.
학습자의 한국어 학습 동기와 학습 태도 등을 고려하여 한국어 학습 목적과 목표를 정하고, 태국 중·고등학교의 한국어 교수-학습 상황에 맞는 교육과정의 주제-기능과문법을 선정하였다. 짧은 한국어 학습 시간과 많은 학급당 인원수를 고려하여 ‘기본 문형’을 중심으로 학습 효과를 높일 수 있도록 하였다.
태국 중·고등학교 한국어 교육이 발전하기 위해서는 한국어 교사, 중·고등학교 현실에 적합한 한국어 교육과정 그리고 학습자 요구에 부합하고 학습자의 수준에 맞는 한국어 교재에 관한 문제를 해결하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해서는 태국 중·고등학교 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육 관련 연구가 좀 더 활발하게 이루어져야 할 것이다.

The study aims to design Korean curriculum targeting on middle/high school learners in Thailand who learn Korean as a second language.
Korean courses of middle/high school in Thailand started as Thai Basic Education Committee designated Korean as a second language in 2007. In 2008, Korean courses started in Thai middle/high schools. Starting with dispatching Korean teachers in 2011, as learners had rapidly increased, about 20 thousand learners in 74 middle/high schools are learning Korean as of 2013; the number of learners will continuously increase.
Though, in Thai middle/high schools, not only a proper Korean textbook but also a realistic curriculum of Korean education reality are not prepared well yet; the realistically proper Korean curriculum for Thai middle/high schools is urgent.
‘Middle school curriculum committee’ of the Thai ministry of education appointed ‘3-year-basic course for goals and topics of Korean education subjects’ in 2012. However, there are difficulties to apply such to the Korean teach-learn situation of Thai middle/high school. In order to complement and based on the result of demand analysis, Korean curriculum of Thai middle/high school was determined.
Korean education is largely distinguished into major subjects and the liberal arts. In addition, looking at the result of investigation of learners’ demand and present condition of Korean education in Thai middle/high school, most learners studied Korean 1-2 hours a week. Hereupon, the subjects of the study was set as the learners who learn Korean 1-2 hours a week.
Considering learners’ study attitude and motivation of studying Korean, the study set the purpose and goal of learning Korean, and chose the topic -functions and grammar- of curriculum which suits the Korean teach-learn situation of Thai middle/high school. Considering the large number of people per class and short time to learn Korean, the studying effect was set to be increased focusing on ‘basic sentence structure.’
In order for Korean education of Thai middle/high school to develop, the resolution of problems about Korean teachers, Korean textbooks suited for the standards of learners, and Korean curriculum suited for the reality of middle/high schools is necessary. For such resolution, studies related to Korean education targeting on Korean learners of Thai middle/high school need to be conducted more actively.
