This analyzed the form and significance of the ʻ-었-ʼ and ʻ-었었-ʼ that displayed the past time in Korean and the auxiliary words ʻ了ʼ and ʻ过ʼ that represented past time in Chinese and studied the correspondence between ʻ-었-ʼ in Korean and ʻ了ʼ in Chinese, and between ʻ-었었-ʼ in Korean and ʻ过ʼ in Chinese. In addition, it also further analyzed the mistakes made by the Chinese learners of Korean as expressing the behaviors occurred in the past time and found the essential cause. It is helpful for Chinese who learnt Korean to correctly use the past tenses. The first Chapter raises the purpose of this study, clears up previous studies and describes the research object and methods. The tenses have been studied in both Korean and Chinese long before, but people carried out few studies on the comparison between ʻ-었-ʼ, ʻ-었었-ʼ in Korean and the auxiliary words ʻ了ʼ and ʻ过ʼ in Chinese. In addition, there were insufficient studies on the performance of past time for Chinese who learnt Korean. The second Chapter introduces the concept of time-system and phase, comparative analysis theory, as well as error analysis theory involved in the analysis of the performance of past time in Korean and Chinese. The third Chapter describes the time-system of Korean and Chinese and introduces the morphological characteristics and significance characteristics of time marker ʻ-었-ʼ, ʻ-었었-ʼ in Korean and auxiliary words ʻ了ʼ and ʻ过ʼ in Chinese. The fourth Chapter analyzed the corresponding relationship between ʻ-었-ʼ in Korean and ʻ了ʼ in Chinese, and between ʻ-었었-ʼ in Korean and ʻ过ʼ in Chinese based on the current verbal characteristics. It further predicted the difficulties encountered by Chinese people who learnt Korean and analyzed the questionnaire survey results of 61 mid-level Chinese students to identify the cause of the error.
