최근 태국에는 한류열풍과 더불어 한국에 대한 관심이 고조되고 한국어를 공부하는 학생들이 많아졌다. 따라서 본 논문은 태국 내 한국어 학습자들에게 한국어 교육을 보다 이해하기 쉽고, 효과적으로 교육하기 위한 한국어 지도 방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다.
제 2장은 이론적인 배경으로 학습자 학습 활동과 한국어의 기능 교육을 분석하고 태국 내의 한국어 교육 현황과 한국과 태국의 언어, 문화적, 사회적 차이를 분석하였다.
제 3장은 태국 학습자들을 대상으로 한국어 교육에 관한 학습자 요구 조사를 실시하여 분석하고 있다. 조사 방법으로는 질문지를 통한 조사로 서 방콕 시내의 한국어 전공 대학생 141명이 조사되었다. 질문지 조사에 대한 분석 결과에 따라 태국 학생들이 가장 어려워하는 부분은 한국어 문법이었다. 이 연구에서는 문법 중에서 ‘조사’에 관한 효과적인 수업 지도안과 지도방안이 4장에서 제시되었다.
제5장은 질문지 분석 결과를 바탕으로 태국 학습자의 한국어 학습 요구조사 내용을 요약하고 있다. 첫째, 태국 학생들이 가장 어려워하는 부분은 문법(어순, 어미변화, 경어, 시제, 조사)이었다. 한국어와 태국어의 어순이 다르고, 태국어에는 어미변화, 시제와 조사가 없으며 경어법도 한국어에 비하여 단순하다. 둘째, 한국에서 개발된 교재가 주로 사용되므로 교재가 부적절하다. 태국인에 맞는 문법과 회화를 절충한 교재 개발이 시급하며, 한국 문화와 관련된 관용어나 속담을 위한 문화 교재개발도 필요하다. 셋째, 태국 학생들은 한국인 선생님과 태국인 선생님의 공동 팀 티칭을 원하였다. 넷째, 태국 학생들은 영화, 노래, 영상미디어를 이용한 흥미로운 수업을 희망하였다.
태국 학생들이 한국어가 어렵다고 느끼는 이유는 한국어와 모국어의 차이에서 오는 것 도 있지만 학생들 자신이 외국어에 대한 심리적 부담감과 개인적인 노력 부족도 포함되고 있다. 결국 교사의 교육 방법에 대한 지속적인 연구가 절실하다.

Under the circumstances where there is much popularity for Korean culture and Korean learning in Thailand, the objective of this study is to design an effective Korean language teaching plan for Thai university students. The study examined difficulties that Thai students are facing when learning Korean, and differences between the Korean language and the Thai language. A questionnaire was designed and 141 Thai students selected from universities located in Bangkok were surveyed from July 1 to July 20, 2009, It was found that the objective to learn Korean varies from student to student. It is therefore recommended that Korean language teaching suits students' different learning purposes. This study showed that Thai students had difficulties in such fields as word-order and conjugation in which there were differences between two languages. In addition, it was found that majority of Thai students had difficulties in such language expressions as metaphor, proverb, and fables which are related with Korean culture. 91.4% of the Thai students were found to have a preoccupation that Korean language is difficult. Also Thai students had difficulties in such fields as grammar, listening, speaking among others when learning Korean language. The results of the study indicated that as effective teaching methods, such methods as team-teaching of Thai and Korean teachers, and bilingual instruction with proper mixture of grammar and conversation could be effective for Thai students. Finally the study proposed a sample teaching plan on particles as an example to teach Thai students effectively.
