의사소통 전략 연구는 70년대부터 꾸준히 이루어지고 있다. 의사소통 전략은 의사소통 능력의 중심위치를 차지하며 의사소통 능력 발달에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 또한 제2언어 학습자들이 언어 학습이 미숙한 상태에서 여러 가지 어려움에 직면할 때 적절한 방법을 찾아 사용하는 의사소통 전략은 의사소통 상의 문제를 극복하고 의사소통 목표를 달성해 나가는 측면에서 도움이 된다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 한국어 교육 분야에서 그 연구가 아직 미비한 것은 안타까운 현실이다.
이러한 배경 아래 본 연구는 중국인 학습자가 구어 의사소통 전략을 어떻게 사용하도록 교육할 것인가의 관점에서 고찰하였다. 본 논문의 구성은 다음과 같다.
Ⅰ장에서는 본 논문의 필요성과 목적을 밝히고 본 연구를 위한 선행 연구를 살펴보았다. 의사소통 전략은 제2언어 학습자에게 아주 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 반면 한국어 교육 분야에서는 그 연구가 많이 이루어지지 않고 있어 의사소통 전략에 대해 연구할 필요성이 있다. 특히 중국인 학습자에게 어떤 의사소통 전략이 효과적인지가 밝혀지지 않았기 때문에 이러한 전략을 교육하기 위하여 어떤 절차와 방법이 있는지를 본 연구의 목적으로 삼았다.
Ⅱ장에서는 본 연구의 이론적인 배경으로 삼기 위한 의사소통 전략의 정의, 의사소통 전략의 유형, 의사소통 전략 교수의 필요성에 대해 고찰하였다. 여러 학자가 제시했던 의사소통 전략의 정의와 대표적인 의사소통 전략 유형을 소개하여 비교하였고 이러한 정의와 유형들은 본 연구를 분석하는 틀로 삼았다.
Ⅲ장에서는 중국인 학습자가 의사소통 문제에 직면할 때 효과적인 전략이 무엇이며, 또한 교수에 필요한 전략이 무엇인지에 대한 실제적이고 정확한 근거를 제시하기 위해 3급 수준의 중국인 학습자 20명을 대상으로 두 과제를 가지고 실험하였으며 그 결과를 제시하였다. 중국인 학습자에게는 제1언어 근거 전략의 직역 전략이 효율적이고 제2언어 근거 전략 가운데 풀어말하기 전략과 대체 전략이 문제를 해결하는데 효과적이며 또한 일반화 전략과 협동적 전략도 다른 전략과 같이 쓰이면 의사소통 문제 해결에 효과적인 것으로 보인다. 제2 언어 근거 전략에 있어서 단일한 전략을 사용하기보다는 통합적으로 전략을 사용하는 방식이 더 효과적인 것으로 보였다.
Ⅳ장에서는 Ⅲ장의 실험 연구 결과를 중심으로 중국인 학습자에게 직역 전략, 풀어말하기 전략, 대체 전략, 일반화 전략 및 협동적 전략이 효과적인 전략이며 교수할 필요가 있는 전략임을 나타내었다. 이에 따라 이를 전략 교육의 목록으로 정하고 교수하는 절차 및 교수하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이러한 전략들은 별도로 가르치는 것이 더욱 효과적이나 통합적으로 가르치는 것도 가능함을 기술하였다.

Communication strategy research has been steadily researched since the 70's. Communication research can be helpful in overcoming communication problems, but futhermore, it can have influences in learning a second language. Finding an appropriate solution for learners of a second language facing difficulties due to inexperience in language study and using that communication strategy is very important in overcoming problems in communications and achieving goals in communications.
Based on this background, this research inquires in the perspective on educating on how to use colloquial and communication strategies on Chinese learners.
This is the configuration of the thesis
On chapter 1, the necessity and the purpose of the thesis is covered and precedence research for this research has been examined. Communication strategy is very important aspect for learners of a second language, but on the other hand Korean education is lacking in research for communication research and there is a need in researching communication strategy. Specially, an effective communication strategy has not been found yet, therefore this research has purposed in finding procedures and method for educating these strategies.
On chapter 2, communication strategy definition, communication strategy type and necessity of communication strategy professors have been inquired to be the theoretical background of this thesis. Main communication strategy types presented by Tarone, Faerch and Kasper, Bialystok and Poulisse have been introduced and contrasted and has made the Faerch and Kasper's type as the basis of the researching frame.
On chapter 3, effective strategy for Chinese learners facing communication problems have been presented. Also for practical and accurate presentation of evidence on the strategic needs of the professor, a test has been conducted using 20 level 3 Chinese learners with two exercises. It shows that for Chinese learners, it is effective to use first language based strategy's literal strategy and for second language strategy, simple speaking strategy substitution strategy seemed effective in solving communication problems. Also generalization strategy and cooperative strategy used with other strategies seemed to be effective in solving communication problems. It shows that second language based strategy integrated with other strategies is more effective than using it by itself.
On chapter IV, it shows that chapter III's research results, such as literal strategy, simple speaking strategy, substitution strategy, generalization strategy and cooperative strategy, are effective strategies and need to be instructed. Accordingly, it proposes the need to make this strategy as an education list and also teaching procedures and teaching methods have been proposed. It is described that these strategies are more effective when they are taught integrated with other strategies rather than by itself.
