현재 한국의 대학이나 대학원에 진학하기 위한 목적으로 한국어를 학습하려는 외국인 유학생의 수가 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 학문 목적 학습자의 증가 추세에 따라 학문 목적 한국어에 대한 연구가 지속되어 왔으나 대학 예비 과정 단계의 학문 목적의 한국어 능력 향상을 위한 한국어의 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 세부적으로 연구가 필요한 분야이다.
그동안의 한국어 교육은 의사소통을 위한 일반 목적의 한국어 교육이 이루어져 왔다. 하지만 학문 목적의 학습자들을 위해서는 대학 수학 전 단계에서 차별화된 언어 기술이 학습 되어져야 한다. 외국인 한국어 학습자 중 학문 목적으로 수학하고 있는 학습자들의 어려움 중 하나가 갑자기 어려워진 대학 과목의 텍스트 읽기이다. 이에 본고에서는 학업 능력 배양을 위한 연구 중 한국어 읽기 교육에 비중을 두고 학문 목적의 읽기 능력 향상을 위하여 그래픽 조직자를 활용한 한국어 읽기 수업 모형을 설계하고자 한다.
본 논문의 구성은 다음과 같다.
Ⅰ장에서는 연구의 목적과 필요성을 밝히고, 연구 방법에 대해 서술한 후 본 연구를 위한 선행 연구를, 학문 목적 한국어 교육 관련 연구와 한국어 읽기 교육 관련 연구 그리고 그래픽 조직자 관련 연구로 나누어 살펴보았다.
Ⅱ장에서는 이론적 배경을 기술하였는데, 이를 위해 학문 목적 읽기 이론과 상호작용적 읽기 이론 그리고 그래픽 조직자의 개념과 유형의 이론적 배경을 살펴보았다.
Ⅲ장에서는 학문 목적의 읽기 수업 설계를 위한 전제로 한국어 교재와 대학 교재를 비교 분석함으로써 교재 간의 차이점을 알아보고 그 격차를 줄이기 위한 방안으로 그래픽 조직자의 활용과 읽기 능력과의 관계를 알아보았다. 그래픽 조직자는 텍스트의 전체적 내용 이해와 함께 구조를 이해하는 능력 신장을 가져 오고 이를 훈련함으로써 내용 요약 능력을 기를 수 있고 전체 구조를 한 눈에 보는 능력까지도 키울 수 있다. 이를 위해 그래픽 조직자의 종류와 활용에 대해 살펴보고 읽기 학습 전략의 교수를 설계하였다.
Ⅳ장에서는 연구를 토대로 실제 교실 수업에서 사용할 수 있는 수업 모형을 설계하기 위해 그래픽 조직자를 활용하는 방안으로 먼저 대학 예비 과정 단계의 텍스트를 이용하여 그래픽 조직자를 선별하고 이것을 활용한 읽기 수업 모형을 읽기 전, 중, 후로 나누어 설계하였다.
본 연구를 통해 학문 목적의 한국어 학습자들이 대학 수학 시 겪을 수 있는 어려움을 줄이고 읽기 능력의 향상을 위한 방안의 하나로 한국어 교육의 텍스트와 대학 수학 텍스트 간의 차이를 밝히고 학문 목적 학습자들을 위한 그래픽 조직자를 활용한 읽기 수업 모형을 설계하였다는데 의의가 있다.

The numbers of foreign students who want to study Korean Language for the purpose of undergraduate and graduate study at the Korean University are continuously increasing. In addition to this, the study of Korean Language for an academic purpose began recently and this became an area where more detailed researches are needed. Thus far, the Korean language education has been done for a general purpose of communication, and for those who study it for an academic purpose, it has to be done in a different way as a pre-stage of the college education. The difficulty of foreign students who have learned Korean language has been that they suddenly had to read difficult text books of college level. Therefore, in this , in order to foster the academic aptitude, Korean reading education is to be more stressed and also in order to improve reading ability for the purpose of academic study, the model of Korean reading class will be designed with a graphic organizer.
The outline of the dissertation is the following.
In Chapter I, after mentioning the purpose, the necessity and the method of the study, as a pre-study for the major academic subject, the Korean language education, the Korean reading education and also the graphic organizer are respectively studied.
In Chapter II, the theoretical background is described. For this purpose, the theory of reading for academic purpose, that of the interactional reading and the concept of the graphic organizer and the theoretical background of the type are examined.
In Chapter III, with the presupposition of the class plan for the reading for the academic purpose, Korean textbooks and college textbooks are compared and analyzed and in order to reduce their differences, the relationship between the use of the graphic organizer and the language ability is studied. The graphic organizer enables to understand the gist of the whole contents of the textbook and through this training the summary ability is to be improved and the ability to grasp the whole structure is to be fostered. To achieve this, the uses of the various kinds of the graphic organizer are examined and also the strategy for learning the reading ability is planned.
In Chapter IV, on the basis of this study, for designing the class model for the actual class, in order to use the graphic organizer, first of all, pre-college stage textbooks are used to select a graphic organizer and through this, the reading class model of the before, the middle and the after are designed.
The contributions of this study are the followings: the difficulties of the learner of Korean language for academic purpose will be reduced, and as an alternative for the advancement of reading ability, the difference between the Korean language education textbook and the college textbook will be exposed, and the reading class model by using the graphic organizer will be designed.
