The purpose of the study is to use webtoon that help strengthen and enrich education data or education institutes for Korean learners. This study suggests the educational plan for Korean Language using the webtoon. it is to enhance the language comprehension abilities and to make the study more interesting and effective.
In chapter 1, Described the purpose and necessity of this research and examines the current situation of using the webtoon.
In chapter 2, two researches are suggested. one is research on educational plan applying webtoon and the other is on character of webtoon. In each chapter, proceeding research method is described. webtoon is one gerne of cartoon, experiencing formal changing like internet-optimized 'up&down' scroll as typical cartoon adopted internet service to itself. Webtoon consists of verbal and nonverbal element. These also have central and assistant element respectively. Central element is core meaning development and explanation of story. Assistant element is secondary element showing detailed expression and commentary to character's emotion and situation that he or she is involved in.
In chapter 3, Theoretical background, concept and character of webtoon is examined to enhance the understanding of webtoon as Korean education resource. The educational value of webtoon is classified into four types of major character, 'easy access', 'daily life-concept', 'diversity', and 'inter-relation'. These reveal that webtoon based on internet is suitable for media environment having everyday-change trend.
Although it is revealed in the beginning that this study aims at diagnosing possibilities that webtoon could be used as Korean education resource and ultimately teaching material applying webtoon could be developed, many parts of hypothesis in this study need objective verification. this research could be completed when especially specific method is suggested in application of webtoon as educational resource or teaching material. This subject is put on further research.
In chapter 4, inquiry has been executed among Chinese Korean-intermediate-level students who are studying in Korea. It generally shows positive cognition to educational effects, demand for webtoon education in the future, interest level, and satisfaction. Principles of instructing and learning are suggested by applying webtoon to Korean education. It contains multimedia education plan and effects to be expected to help Korean leaners.
In chapter 5, practices are suggested applying webtoon to Korean education. With instructing and learning activities in chapter 4 applied, Korean lecture model is presented and aims at Chinese Korean-intermediate-level learner with proper contents for them. Lecture model is presented mainly with newly-coined words that are not be handled that much in Korean education and onomatopoeic word, mimetic word, proverb, and idiom that learners feel difficult.
There are various method of Korean education with multimedia base or cartoon but learner-oriented education with webtoon has not been suggested. This study targets Korean education plan including them through webtoon. It is a point that webtoon helps learners to focus on studying Korean with continuous interests and concerns but this study reaches critical point, not showing education effect though analyzing teaching material and inquiry has been executed only in Korea not covering learners in China. Domestic respondents have huge interest in new type of cartoon, webtoon. This study has significant point that it solves problems in insufficiency of Korean education material or body and also enriches the base of webtoon as educational material helping learners to understand Korean culture. Hope this study to help suggesting education plan with webtoon inducing learner's interests and further studies should be conducted helping learners in other countries except for China to enhance their ability in Korean.

본 연구는 멀티미디어를 기반으로 한 웹툰을 한국어 교육 방안으로 제시하였다. 한국인의 사고방식과 생활 방식, 가치관 등이 자연스럽게 녹아있는 언어문화의 집합체이자 시공간을 초월하여 누구나 손쉽게 접할 수 있는 웹툰을 수업의 자료로 활용하여 단순히 의사소통의 지식을 넓히는 것을 넘어서 한국의 언어뿐만 아니라 자연스럽게 한국문화를 접하게 된다는 점에서 한국어 교육 자료로서 충분히 가치가 있다고 생각된다.
먼저 제1장 서론에서는 한국어 교육에서 웹툰교육 방안을 연구하는 목적과 동기, 연구의 방법과 범위를 제시하고, 대상을 중국인 중급학습자로 정한 의의를 밝힌다.
그리고 웹툰을 활용한 교육방안 연구와 웹툰의 특성연구에 관한 선행 연구를 살펴본 후, 각 장에서 진행될 연구의 방법을 기술하였다.
제2장 이론적 배경에서는 웹툰의 개념과 특성, 웹툰교육의 장단점과 가치를 살핀 후 웹툰과 한국어 교육의 관계를 고찰하였다.
제3장에서는 국내 대학교에서 한국어를 공부하고 있는 중국인 중급학습자를 대상으로 웹툰을 활용한 한국어 수업에 관한 인식을 알아보기 위해 설문조사를 진행하였다.
제4장에서는 분석한 설문 조사 자료를 바탕으로 한국어 교육에서 웹툰을 활용한 교수·학습의 원리의 방법을 제시하였다. 그 내용으로는 전통적인 교실의 한계를 벗어나 한국어 교육에서 도움이 될 것으로 기대하는 멀티미디어교육 방안을 제시하였다.
제5장에서는 한국어 중국인 중급 학습자를 위한 웹툰 교수-학습 자료의 실제를 보여주고 4장에서 제시한 한국어 교육에서 웹툰을 활용한 교수·학습활동을 접목시켜 웹툰을 활용한 한국어 수업의 모형을 제시하였다. 수업모형에서는 중국인 중급학습자를 대상으로 교육 방안을 제시하고 급의 수준에 맞추어 내용을 선정하여 실제 한국어 수업에 적용 가능한 웹툰 자료를 제작했다. 한국어 교육에서 중요하게 다루어지지 않고 있는 신어와 학습자가 어려워하는 부분인 의성어, 의태어, 속담 그리고 관용어를 중심으로 교육 방안을 제시한다.
제6장에서는 연구의 전반적인 내용을 요약, 정리하고 앞으로의 전망과 함께 차후의 연구 과제를 제시하였다.
본 연구는 웹툰이 멀티미디어를 기반으로 한 매체이기 때문에 이를 활용한 학습이 학습자의 요구와 수준에 맞는 여러 가지 주제와 장르의 작품을 시공간의 제약 없이 제공해주고 또한 작품과 관련된 시각자료는 학습자의 흥미를 유발시키고 이해를 도와주기에 적합하다고 생각하여 한국어교육 자료로써 매우 유용할 것이라 생각했다. 따라서 학습자의 웹툰의 교육적 활용과 효과에 대한 생각을 알아보기 위해 웹툰에 대한 인식을 설문조사해보고 이를 바탕으로 하여 수업실제모형을 제시해 보았다.
만화에 비해서 웹툰을 활용한 한국어 교육 방안에 관한 연구는 아직까지 거의 진행되지 않았다. 한국인의 사고방식과 생활 방식, 가치관 등이 자연스럽게 녹아있는 언어문화의 집합체이고 시공간을 초월하여 누구나 손쉽게 접할 수 있는 웹툰에 대한 다양한 논의가 이루어지고 효율적으로 교육 할 수 있는 방안을 찾는 데에 보탬이 되기를 바란다.
