The purpose of this study is to suggest genre based teaching method for persuasive writing improvement skills for academic purpose Korean learner. With the recent increase of Korean learners, learner's purpose became various and the number of academic purpose learner also increased. Korean education changed variously in the ways of writing, thesis writing for academic purpose learners, however, the expected objects were not been satisfied yet. Therefore, this study researches teaching method for independent thesis writing, the low rank genre of persuasive text, necessary for completement of academic purpose study. This study chose genre based writing teaching method for theoretical background because the genre based writing teaching method suggests teaching methods that supplement existing weakness of teaching methods.
Genre based teaching methods can decrease pressure of completing text by practicing with colleagues by joint negotiation, and help teachers to plan course work precisely by identifying exact expression and construction, and deliver the contents effectively to the learners.
This study is based on the needs that persuasive text writing education is not conduct in the real Korean teaching site in spite of the urgent need for the persuasive text in the complement of study. Additionally, the need was confirmed by the needs assessment for persuasive text writing in thesis writing. Based on the needs assessment, genre based teaching method is selected as a solution for improving expression for text complement.
In chapter 2, the definition, objective, and characteristics of genre based teaching method is suggested. Literature review on unclassified genre categories in Korean education is followed. This study suggests the classifications and organizations of low rank genre belongs to persuasive text, and seeks definition and characteristics of persuasive text, the high rank of thesis to find out the structural difference of persuasive text from thesis.
In chapter 3, text analysis is conducted with persuasive text chapter as the central figure for academic purpose learners. Text analysis is conducted concentrate upon the subject of structural characteristics, content development and language expression, and each text's characteristics, strength and weakness. Additionally an investigation searching for solution of weakness of each textbook based on genre based teaching method is conducted, and the result is reflected in chapter 4.
In chapter 4, contents that must be handled in persuasive text writing education method are suggested in order of context, persuasive text structure, language expression. The suggestions are more developed to text construction and independent construction included text identification in cooperation with modeling for learners. Therefore, this study is significant in suggesting ways to academic purpose learners of high quality persuasive text producing method.

이 연구는 장르 중심 교수법을 활용하여 학문 목적 한국어 학습자의 설득 텍스트 쓰기 능력을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 최근 한국어 학습자가 증가하면서 학습자들의 목적이 다양해지고 학문 목적의 학습자들도 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 학문 목적의 학습자들을 위한 한국어 교육도 다양하게 변화하면서 보고서 작성이나 논문 작성에 관한 교육 내용과 쓰기 교육에 관한 지도 방안이 연구되었지만 학습자와 교수자들은 큰 만족을 느끼지 못하고 있다. 이러한 이유로 연구자는 학문 목적의 학습자들이 학업을 완수하는 데 필요한 설득 텍스트의 하위 장르인 논문을 중심으로 한국어 학습자가 논문을 독립적으로 완성하기 위한 교육 방안을 연구하였다. 교육 방안을 제시하기 위한 쓰기 교육의 이론적 방법으로 장르 중심 교수법을 택하였는데, 이는 장르 중심 교수법이 기존 교수법의 단점들을 보완할 수 있는 교수법을 제시하고 있기 때문이다.
장르 중심 교수법은 학습자에게는 ‘협력하여 텍스트 구성하기’의 과정을 통해 미리 학습자가 구성해야 할 텍스트를 동료들과 연습해 봄으로써 텍스트를 완성할 때의 부담감을 감소시킬 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 또한 교수자에게는 정확한 언어 표현 준비와 장르의 구조 파악으로 구체적인 수업 내용을 계획하고 학습자에게 전달할 수 있다는 보완점을 가지고 있다.
이 연구는 학문 목적의 학습자들이 설득 텍스트가 학업을 완수하는 데에 필요한 장르이지만 실제 한국어 교육 현장에서는 설득 텍스트에 대한 쓰기 교육이 많이 이루어지지 않고 있고, 학습자들이 쓰기 교육에서 설득 텍스트 중 논문에 대한 교육이 필요하다는 요구 조사를 바탕으로 시작하였다. 요구 조사에서 학습자들이 텍스트를 완성하기 위해 언어 표현에 대한 학습이 부족한 부분이라고 선택한 결과를 가지고 장르 중심 교수법이 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 적합한 교수법이라는 이론을 기반으로 한 교육 방안을 제시하고자 하였다.
우선 2장에서 장르의 정의와 장르 중심 교수법의 목적과 특성에 대해서 알아보고 한국어 교육에서 아직까지 유형화되지 못한 장르의 분류를 선행 연구 기반으로 제시하였다. 이를 토대로 논문의 상위 장르인 설득 텍스트의 개념과 특징에 대해 알아보고 설득 텍스트에 속하는 하위 장르에 대한 구분과 정리를 제시하였는데, 이는 논문과 다른 설득 텍스트와의 구조의 차이를 알아보기 위한 것이다.
3장에서는 학문 목적 학습자를 위한 쓰기 교재에서 설득 텍스트 단원을 중심으로 교재 분석을 실시하였다. 교재 분석은 구조적 특징, 내용 전개, 언어 표현의 세 분야를 중심으로 각각의 교재가 가지는 특징과 장단점에 대해 알아보았다. 교재가 가지는 단점을 장르 중심 교수법이 어떻게 해결할 수 있는지를 알아보고 이를 4장의 교육 방안에 반영하도록 하였다.
4장에서는 설득 텍스트 쓰기 교육 방안에서 다루어야 할 내용을 3장의교재 분석을 토대로 맥락, 설득 텍스트의 구조, 언어 표현의 순서대로 제시하였으며, 이 제시된 내용들을 장르 중심 교수법을 이용하여 보기글 보이기와 협력하여 텍스트 구성하기의 과정이 포함된 텍스트 파악하기, 다음으로 독립적으로 구성하기의 단계를 거치는 과정으로 학습자에게 방안에 대해 제시하였다.
이러한 순서에 따라 이 연구는 학문 목적 학습자에게 완성도 높은 설득 텍스트 구성을 위한 방안을 제시하는 데 그 의의가 있다 하겠다.
