중국의 한자와 달리 한국의 한글은 문장 속에서 언어 규칙에 따라 띄어 쓰는 특징이 있다. 중국인 학습자들은 글쓰기 과정에서 띄어쓰기에 대한 어려움을 많이 느끼고 형식적인 오류도 많이 범한다. 그러나 띄어쓰기는 글쓰기의 중요한 기본 요소로써 글로 이루어지는 의사소통에서 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 따라서 문자 언어의 효과적인 의사소통을 위해 띄어쓰기는 반드시 필요하다. 현재까지 한국어 교육 현장에서의 중국인 한국어 학습자를 위한 띄어쓰기 관련 연구는 미흡한 상황이며, 그 구체적인 지도 방안도 아직 제대로 마련되지 못하고 있다.
따라서 본 연구에서는 한국의 대학교에 재학 중인 중국인 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 먼저, 설문조사를 통해 띄어쓰기에 대한 인식을 조사하였고, 또 학습자가 직접 쓴 글을 분석하여 글쓰기에서 어떤 오류를 범하고 있는지를 알아보았다. 적절한 띄어쓰기 교육 방안을 마련하기 위해 학습자의 글쓰기에서 띄어쓰기 오류가 일어나는 원인을 구체적으로 학습자 측면의 원인, 교육적 측면의 원인, 환경적 측면의 원인으로 나눠서 분석해보았다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 중국인 학습자를 위한 구체적이고 효과적인 띄어쓰기 교육 방안을 모색해 보았다. 우선, 분석한 띄어쓰기 오류 원인에 따라 띄어쓰기 교육 방향을 제시하고 띄어쓰기 교육 방안을 설계해 보도록 하였다. 구체적으로는 학습자 측면 오류 원인에 따른 ‘문법과 규정을 통한 띄어쓰기 교육 방안’, 교육적 측면 오류 원인에 따른 ‘오류 유형별 띄어쓰기 교육 방안’, 환경적 측면 오류 원인에 따른 ‘매체 활용을 통한 띄어쓰기 교육 방안’ 이 세 가지 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 다음으로 설계한 띄어쓰기 교육 방안에 의하여 실제 한국어 교육 현장에서 적용할 수 있는 교수·학습 모형 즉 교사 설명 수업과 학습자 탐구 학습을 결합하는 교수·학습 모형과 교수·학습 지도안을 제시하였다.
본 논문은 현재 중국인 학습자를 위한 띄어쓰기 교육이 체계적으로 이루어지지 않는 실정에서 학습자의 띄어쓰기 오류 원인과 교육 방안을 제시했다는 데 의의가 있다. 그러나 본 논문에서 제시한 교수·학습 모형과 교수·학습 지도안을 교육 현장에서 직접 실천해 보지 못하여 실제적인 띄어쓰기 능력에 어떤 영향을 끼치는지 알 수 없다는 제한점이 있다. 앞으로 이를 시행하여 수정을 거쳐 보완한 교수·학습 모형과 교수·학습 지도안을 마련하는 것이 필요하다.

Korean Hangul has a feature of word spacing in article according to its language rule, which is different from Chinese. Chinese Korean learners feel hard using word spacing in the Korean writing process and therefore make many errors. As an important basic factor, word spacing plays a very important role on Korean writing. Word spacing is also necessary for effective communication. So far, in the field of Korean education, there are only few studies about word spacing for Chinese Korean learners, and no practical plans have been proposed yet.
The Chinese Korean learners who are studying in Korean university are the objects of this research. We firstly made an investigation of the understanding of word spacing by a questionnaire survey. Then we analyzed the article which is written by the Chinese Korean learners and investigated what kind of errors they have made. In order to find the effective word spacing teaching methods, we analyzed the reasons for the errors from Chinese Korean learners' articles, education and environment. Based on these reasons, we have explored specific and effective word spacing teaching plan for Chinese Korean leaners. Based on these errors we had found the word spacing education direction and had designed an education plan of word spacing. The specific education plan was explored like this: based on the learners' errors we should educate word spacing by grammar and regulation; based on the errors of word spacing education we should educate word spacing by the types of word spacing errors; based on the errors of the environment we should educate word spacing by using the media. According to the word spacing education direction we had found a word spacing education learning model which combined the teacher's explanation with the learners' inquiring and a word spacing lesson plan at the scene of the Korean education.
The significance of this research is that it found the reasons of errors and teaching methods of word spacing under the circumstances that the teachers have not done systematic teaching for Chinese Korean learners. However, the education learning model and lesson plan which was raised in this research have not practiced directly in the Korean education, and we do not know what the result would be. In the future, it is necessary to set up a much more practical teaching program through a process of practice and modification.
